Obama Says He Regrets His Language on Gates Arrest

President Obama said Friday that he "could have calibrated"
his words more carefully in the racially-charged controversy
over the arrest of a Harvard professor, making a surprise
appearance at the daily White House briefing to try and cool
the tensions surrounding the case.

Mr. Obama said he had talked to the arresting officer and
hoped the case could become "a teachable moment" to be used
to improve relations between minorities and police officers.

Yeah. like tell the minorities to get some sense and learn to cooperate with a police officer who is trying protect your property. BWAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA. What a maroon.

HOLY CARP!!!
There's a definite backlash starting against Obama and Gates. Gates should take the hint and shut up, and save his case (if he has one) for court.
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

Mr. President, when you start a sentence with the phrases, "I don't know all the facts, and I wasn't there..." the only appropriate ending for that sentence is, "so I don't have any comment."

And, by the way, who's doing the "profiling" here? Suspected B&E reported by a woman who lives 5 miles away, walking through the neighborhood. Cop approaches suspect (because that's what he was at the time), and is accused of being a racist.

Gee, a rule like that would certainly put a crimp in postings in TNCR. ;)

You of course are right. Unfortunately, I heard a college prof (did not hear his name) say "Gates is the Rosa Parks of profiling"

i don't know..

it seems kind of stupid to arrest a man on his own property

that's hardly the type of protection i would expect. from law enforcement..

on the other hand it is better to be safe than sorry. i myself called the cops once on what i thought was an intruder.. when i myself to tried to leave my apt. the cops thought i (me) was the intruder and told me to drop my weapon (a little kitchen knife :D ) and jump (JUMP!) from a window.

of course the professor was black, so what should he expect? in the eyes of many, he's just another nigger. Obama is black too.. or 1/2 black at least. possible he has some empathy.

i feel sorry for black people... imagine living in a society where you are guilty because of your hue.

That's a ridiculous thing to say, apple. Did you look into this story at all before you decided to comment on it?

That might depend on the circumstances.

This professor sounds like he lived his whole life for that moment.

Yes, and apparently he's the first one who needs to learn something about the subject. Barak Obama - all the knee-jerk liberal academic prejudices, combined with all the stupid mistakes of a rookie politician.

He should regret it.

It's good that he is able to admit error ... Unlike the last guy, who couldn't think of any mistake he'd made.

Could somebody give me a quick rundown of this story? Between prepping for our GOB sale, finding new employment and prepping for that, and a little mini vacation this week, I've only caught little snippets here and there. I've tried googling the story, but just keep finding blog posts that don't really give the story but just go into a rant.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

Gates arrives at his house with driver. He doesn't have key, and tries to "shoulder" front door. Passerby sees two black guys breaking into house, calls cops. Gates walks around to back, and lets himself in. Cops arrive, question what he's doing there. Gates goes on rant, saying cops are racist. Cop arrests him for disorderly conduct and they book him. Charges dropped.

BHO asked about it at press conference. Says he doesn't know the facts, but he does know that the police "acted stupidly."

Bloggers heads explode.

Gobbing used to be the term used by punks to refer to the crowd spitting on the band, or vice versa. In my mind, I see a young, mohawked D'Oh. I think it's a mohawk anyway. Hard to tell through the knickers. I just can't quite suss out if he is the gobber or the gobbee.
