And yet we have people in this country that want us to go back to being just like europe! We left the bloody place and created our constitution for very good reasons. This is a perfect example of that. And there was that whole excessive taxation thing too. |

I Owe It All To John D'Oh

Your history is a little off. It wasn't an issue of excessive taxation. It was taxation without representation. |
| It would be unwise to underestimate what large groups of ill-informed people acting together can achieve. -- John D'Oh, January 14, 2010. | |

BS. You know just as well as everyone else that Europe is generally more secular than the US. How can this be a "perfect example" of anything, then? |

I would say it is a perfect example of bad legislation that will lead to unintended and undesirable consequences. |

Britain just abolished blasphemy last year. Ireland's always been a bit silly about religious issues. Mark - your re-writing of history is rather sad. The only reason America has so many Irish in it has nothing to do with freedom of speech. It's because of all the cheap potatoes. |

ZOOOOOM!

To be even more precise, it had mostly to do with a crazy-ass monarch changing colonial laws at the drop of a hat. Had he not been so back-and-forth with his law-changing, pretty good chance there would have been no rebellion then. IMO of course. |

Random FML: Today, I was fired by my boss in front of my coworkers. It would have been nice if I could have left the building before they started celebrating. FML The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy
