Which city to visit?; ...need your help!

So 3 guy friends and I are looking to do a trip in early November. Two years ago we did Boston, and while I'd like to do Chicago, 2 of the guys apparently forgot their cajones and think it'll be too cold then.

For one reason or another, we've ruled out NYC, Vegas, DC, Philly, Pittsburgh, Memphis, Phoenix, Chicago, Boston, LA, San Diego, Seattle.

We're looking for a new city that we've never been to, but that has a lot to offer a couple young guys...not only some cool sites to see (Boston was stuffed with them) but also a decent nightlife or something like that.

We are thinking possibly New Orleans or Charleston.

Any other thoughts?

Austin, TX comes to mind. Maybe Arizona or New Mexico.

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
Atlanta, Jacksonville, Savannah, Charleston, etc. The beauty of Jacksonville/Savannah is that you have a lot near there - Amelia Island, Saint Augustine, etc. and the weather will be nice.

I personally like the Asheville, NC area, but that might be too sedate for some young guys.

Atlanta might be a good choice, given the time of year. Lots to do there, according to my son who lives there. If you do decide to go that direction, shoot me a PM or e-mail and I'll let you pick his brain for ideas. He's an engineer (MechE, not EE like me), but that doesn't mean he doesn't like to have fun.

Portland's very nice, too, but apparently Kincaid doesn't want you anywhere near him.

San Francisco would be perfect.

:lol2: Here, let me get a hotel room for you when you visit.

Actually, I have a nineteen year old daughter, so, no - do not come here. Anyway, November is not Portland's best time of year. Cold and wet mostly.

+ 1

Can't speak for the SC/NC/GA area or New Orleans, I haven't been there. But IT is speaking at a conference in SC in January so I'm excited to go.

Charleston is fantastic. It's in my top 3 cities...possibly including Europe. It will be fairly warm, there is a lot of neat stuff (Fort Sumpter of course), and there is an interesting/exciting night life. Great BBQ, people, history, smells, sights...

Yes, I am biased. My dad's family lived there, and now that my uncle's gone, my dad has renovated the family home and is renting it out. I'm thinking I'd like to rent it from him in a few years.

Edit: From where you are, you could catch a train in DC and go straight to Charleston. Or from Richond if you'd like. My mom and I took the train down for my uncle's sevice, and the view from the train was really neat. All kinds of swamps and stuff, and we could look as much as we liked because we weren't driving. Much more relaxing than taking 95, which I have also done...not fun.
And how are you today?

Farmville, VA. There's this hot chick there. Plays piano, too.

Charleston would be very high on my list.
I don't recall exactly why but over the years every time I hear anything about it I want to go.

I don't know about Atlanta. Too many opportunities for trouble. Same with N'Awlins. Savannah could be cool, Jacksonville, etc..

But, I think you guys should head down to Corpus Christi.

I would vote for Atlanta.

Google a list of American cities and go to the 34th city on the list.

And the winner is: Albuquerque, NM

May I point out that it is the only city I can think of with two Q's.

I took this picture of Farmville, VA airport about a year ago.

Maybe it's grown since then.

I'm reading through this thread, thinking 'the answer is obvious, is not anyone going to tell this poor lad the answer?'

Jolly speaks sooth - go to South Beach. Seriously. Really. Go.
