Unbelievable, I can get a round trip flight for 140 on Jetblue or 149 on USAirways. I'm in. Can someone recommend an inexpensive hotel near where we'll be going out? I'm thinking something along the lines of a Hampton Inn or one of the lower end Marriott brands. |

Can't really think of a hotel on the South Side. It's mostly low-rise buildings with coffee shops, small shops, bars and restaurants. Anyone else? There are hotels downtown (an omni and a doubletree) that would be a cab ride away. Oakland, the part of town near Pitt and CMU, has a less expensive Holiday Inn. That would also be a cab ride away. |

I'll check with my beloved. I don't know if Lauren is back in CCM by then. We'd definitely make her go so she can't bust my chops about 'Dad's Imaginary Friends' anymore.

Jon, the newer Holiday Inn Expresses are very nice as well. The old model was kind of crummy, but then Hampton unveiled their new designs and they had to follow suit. We always use Hilton properties as well. |

There's a Holiday Inn Express on the South Side on S. 10th Street if this is our destination. Maybe we'd better decide on a venue first and then hotels to follow. Big Al |

Isn't there a hotel in Station Square? That's close enough for government work. |

Downtown Pittsburgh is pretty cool. Certainly visually interesting. |

I still say the best way to experience Pittsburgh for the first time is by coming through the Liberty Tubes at night. |

Heck, when are we going to have a local get together? Why is it that M&M's and I have to drive up to Pittsburgh to see you, Isaac, and Opti? |

Thought I'd check in to confirm that I and Mrs. Big Al are in and to suggest we nail down a venue. Church Brew Works is always good with me, but folks might like to go somewhere different, maybe even the Red Star in Greensburg. If someone has some suggestions, they could organize a poll. As for me, I can have fun almost any place. (Aside to Vince) It was your joke that started this ball rolling. Any chance you might join us on Sept. 11th? Big Al |

Anyplace to the south would be a big benefit to us, as we'll probably be driving straight in. Greensburg would be a boon, as my dad might be able to meet us there to pick up Luke. I understand that it would be difficult for R2, though, so I am willing to work around that. |

I don't want to say too much because I'm not sure we can come, but that is a long way from the airport and requires anyone flying in to rent a car. If we did something downtown everyone would be able to get an inexpensive shuttle I'm sure, and spend a couple hours less in transit. |

I'm flexible, but I'd prefer a downtown location - unless, of course, you'd all agree to get together at Dolfi's Resautant in Masontown.
