A friend stopped by for lunch yesterday and after eating he said "You want to try my new rifle?"

He went to his truck and got this out

http://cz-usa.com/products/view/cz-452-american/

with this scope on it
http://www.opticsplanet.net/leupold-3-9x40-mark-ar-riflescopes.html

He told me to go out about 125 yards and set up some targets. I went and picked up some blocks of wood about 3"X3" and lined them up on a fence rail. He laughed and said what are those, might as well shoot at your barn door, then he bent down and picked up a handful of small rocks about the size of a quarter and set them up on the fence rail. We shot a box of 50 shells and never missed a shot, we even went to rocks the size of a dime.

Gotta get me one of these.

.17 or .22? I'd love one in either. Now, if it's a .17 put that target out at 1000 yards and see how you do.

Supersecret message to Aqua - do you think a .17 HMR bullet is sufficient to dispatch a zombie? I'm thinking of rooftop work on long-distance targets.

Depends on how old the zombie is. If it's freshly turned, it might just crease the skull (also true of a .22). If it does penetrate, it's a surefire kill, though, as it probably couldn't penetrate the other side, and will ricochet around in the cranial cavity.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

They also make a similar rifle in 22 mag.

Squirrel-getter and varmint dispatcher supreme.

CZ has made first class rifles for a long time. Their big-bore African stuff has long been known as the best kept secret in true "working" rifles.

I'd love to have one in 375 H&H...

I got my CZ 452 .17HMR today, identical to my buddies except I opted for a Nikon 3-9X40 scope with BDC. Sweeeeet gun, tomorrow we sight it in.

Eh, maybe. LD's right. The older and more brittle the zombie, I'd say the better. You get a good headshot in though, and chances are it'll provide enough force to make the innards 'splode, thus incapacitating the zombie.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

After reading this, I think the cartridge is not really cut out for Zombie work. Probably should stick to 7mm or even good ol' .223 Remington, just to be safe.

lb I am (as usual) envious of your retired lifestyle. I would absolutely love a sweet rifle like that.

PS I have laid a lot of flooring, too. But I am an expert at laying caulk.

I am very sloppy with caulk, no matter how hard I try I make a complete mess out of it. I have a lot of caulking to do around the trees and next to the ceramic where the wood floor meets. I am dreading and procrastinating the job.
