Ok, let's try this again. I hit the wrong button and lost what I typed. I think I'm having problems with my gallbladder. I get these 'attacks.' Pain along my ribs on the right side (under my right breast), on my back on the right to my right shoulderblade. It also radiates to my chest and upper abdomen on the right side. I looked the symptoms up and they do correspond to those of gallstones. I am going to call my doc and make an appointment. My mom had her gallbladder removed about a year and a half ago. The surgeon was really good. I've had attacks in the past, but now they occur much more frequently. Do gallstones automatically mean surgery? Do certain types of foods trigger an attack? Also, is there a genetic link to gallbladder problems? Seeing that my mom had hers out because she had a bunch of stones.

There are diets out there that claim to clean out the gall bladder. If I remember correctly, apples are supposed to be particularly good for it, but there's more to it than that... (Maybe it's apple cider vinegar?)

I don't think anything cleans out a troublesome gallbladder that is giving you pain -- if it has stones, it has stones. If it's not squeezing properly, it's not squeezing properly. Mine is out. My worst pain was mostly in the back, between the shoulders, also below the sternum. |

I think those gallbladder flushes are BS! And possibly dangerous if the person delays getting medical treatment, and you also want to rule out other things that might be going on, see a doctor! We had this discussion when I had mine out 2 years ago. As for food triggers, LE, I found fatty foods were a trigger. I was symptomatic for a long time, but once the radiating pain started, I saw a doctor, had the tests, and had it out. Here's my thread, if it's helpful to you, LE. Good luck! http://s10.zetaboards.com/The_New_Coffee_Room/topic/365524/1/ p.s. there's a bonus pic from bach of a gallbladder chock full of stones |

OK, my wife the docta tells me that if you're symptomatic, diet controls are probably not a good long run solution. Now, I'M NOT the docta, and she hasn't actually examined you, so this isn't a substitute for seeing one! Diet can trigger problems ... fatty foods as mentioned. But if the symptoms are there on a regular basis .... |
