HOLY CARP!!!
Back when the dinosaurs roamed, people actually had to attend performances (or listen to their friends) to hear music.

But now, all you need is a little computer that fits in your pocket.

Do you actually listen to instruments anymore, or do you just listen to a machine play them back?

good point.

recordings certainly dont compare to live music on any qualitative scale...(glenn goulds opinion not withstanding...).

although it is amazing to think that up to just a hundred years ago....u may have heard a particular piece only once in a lifetime.

bach's weekly cantatas in leipzig where basically...single use disposable....not meant to heard more than once.

like a plastic syringe.

and like drug addicts...we use them over and over again.

Saw three live concerts in APril so far with a fourth one coming this Saturday.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

Going to see/hear the Carmina Burana played by the Nashville Symphony and performed as a ballet by the Nashville Ballet, tomorrow evening.

Going to the symphony tomorrow night, if daughter and I get well in time. We're both under the weather today with some sort of virus. It started Wednesday, so cross your fingers for us that it will be done yet today. :)

If there was any local talent worth hearing in this town, I would listen a lot more. Unfortunately the pickins are slim.
