Oh, I'm just trying to keep Quirt informed about the type of people he is backing against Palin's judgment -- a deadbeat dad who is living off his mother who is a bankrupt, drug dealing, indicted, single mother on public assistance.

Quirt insisted that "We know that he isn't alone, his family supports him, and it's highly unlikely that the kid would be neglected."

I can't imagine what gives him the basis for that judgment in light of the public court records about the family.

Would you want your grandchild raised in that sort of family environment?

I see this as the logical conclusion of the process started in 1775. Finally, we're going to get hillbillies in the Whitehouse, and the word 'gawlee' will achieve it's rightful place in the national lexicon.

they never should have thrust her in the spotlight.. what a bad move.

Isn't Bristol 19 years old? Yes, perhaps she could be in college.

That was my really my point at the beginning of the thread about the bad behaviour. Poor kid didn't deserve this. Neither did the other poor kid.

That emoticon pretty accurately portrays the typical Englishman's reaction to the last 234 years.

S'okay. It sums up the typical American's reaction to England for the past 234 years. (You do have some awfully cute women over there, though!) ;)

With all due modesty, I think we do eye-rolling much better than you. You chaps are much better with the old guns and bombs and shouting and what-not, but understated irony really is our bag.

And who was it that thrust her in the spotlight? And don't hand me the whole Palin did by accepting the nomination thing.

Of course, the whole thing is absurd as we all know, it's not even the girl's child as he was adopted to be part of the coverup and Bristol's real child is Trig. :rolleyes2:

Do you know why it is that some on the right like Palin? Mostly because they see her as someone real. Somebody that worked their way up from the bottom. Somebody that wasn't born into success, somebody that didn't get an Ivy League education, and has still succeeded. Somebody that has core principles, and sticks to them, even when life interrupts and presents challenges. Her family is human and has human failings. Just like everybody else's. Yet she still holds to those principles. That is to be admired, not ridiculed.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

I think he was brought out because if he had not been the left would have made the 'she's ashamed of and hiding' claim. Better to be out front and taking on all comers publicly. You have to admit the Dems trashing of her personally was a new level of shameful in American politics.

I'm sorry, I don't buy into the saintly working-class girl made good hype any more than I buy into the Obama-Messiah crap. From my perspective, I have to say she appears to rather relish all the attention.

The whole thing is a freak show.

Indeed, the whole script and overall production does have a David Lynch/Twin Peaks seediness to it.

Agreed. It's a crazy, stupid, embarrassing freak show, whipped up into a big fcuking frenzy by the media.

I think the media should leave the poor kids alone. People don't get to choose their parents.

That said, if I ever feel like regretting voting for the other guy, this sort of stuff pops up. :)
