Thanks. That's what I thought. I was beginning to think that IT just likes feeling pissed off all the time.
Why think someone is "pissed off" because they are wiling to engage in a debate or present an alternate point of view? I know the guy, seething and pissed off he is not, good natured and intelligent he is.

I can concur with that having met the man and dined in your beautiful home.

There just seems to be a disconnect with words posted here and the real person.

I'm sure Mik and Larry are good guys to hang out with as well. Sorry for the poke.

I'm sure he's a nice person too.

But it's not debate when there's no room for debate. And it's not intelligent when you insinuate that a President pereceives himself as some sort of Messiah when there's a well documented track record of photographers framing leaders in clever backgrounds.

Thanks NS. I think maybe some people miss that IT has an academic debate style. I remember the discussions and debates with his fellow doctoral candidates, I had no idea what they were talking about half the time and needed a dictionary, but they were all good natured about it.

When there's no room for debate? Says who? You have to allow that people may wish to present different views on a subject. The exchange of ideas is a good thing.

Methinks IT is relying on the Sarcrastic method. I totally pwn3d him. Academics don't know how to take getting pwn3d.

I have to apologize for saying that there is no longer any accuracy in the media. It seems that even a blind pig finds a truffle, occasionally...

Until this evening I never really noticed the extent to which religious symbolism is employed in selling US politics to the masses.

Don't get me wrong, I have always noticed the staged plastic opulence but I never really caught the religious overtones aimed directly at the domestic polity market.

The Anointed one?
What are you driving at?
He's driving the loony bin wagon. It's IT's shift on Tuesdays.

I forget the whole weekly schedule but I think Larry or Mik have the Wednesday duty.
Thanks for coming in again to drop another turd in the forum.

Oh, and happy birthday, asshole.
I usually try to read the whole thread before I reply Mik.

I dunno, go about 10 posts back:

Thanks for the birthday wishes though. :smooch:

“[Conservative leaders] need to understand the critical role that the separation of church and state has played in preserving not only our democracy, but the robustness of our religious practice. Folks tend to forget that during our founding, it wasn't the atheists or the civil libertarians who were the most effective champions of the First Amendment. It was the persecuted minorities, it was Baptists like John Leland…It was the forbearers of the evangelicals who were the most adamant about not mingling government with religion, because they did not want state-sponsored religion hindering their ability to practice their faith…” ----- Pres. BHO

It's a bit rich for BO to be preaching that what with his expanding faith-based programs.

You really need to learn to follow an argument before making accusations against others.

I never said Obie perceives himself as a messiah figure. You asked what his agenda was and I noted that he probably doesn't have an agenda as such to remove crucifixes, but rather that "it is his handlers' agenda to control the PR side of things. They understand the importance of symbology..."

The fact that Bush or anyone does the same does not detract from the explanation that they are using symbology to communicate things. I am sorry if that is too difficult of a concept for you to grasp. You seem to confuse something that to you is personally unintelligible for "not intelligent".

The dogma lives loudly within me.

His PR handlers obviously didn't think it was important enough to inform him of the proper way to stand when the National Anthem is played, and they didn't seem to think it was important to tell him that he wasn't supposed to bow to a monarch.

So what was the context of the reference to "The Anointed One"? The pictures you posted seemed to confirm where I figured you were going with it.
