Are you thinking of this specific bag Apple?
If so the answer is no.
The leather is vintage, also way too supple for that.
Where exactly is the 'slouch' you are referring to?
If you are bidding on this specific bag Apple, I'd also take notice that there is no image of the top of the handles. I'd want to see that b/c this is where I'd expect lots of wear & tear.

No. Janet has that very bag, and it pretty much looked like that from the first year. It's not a structured piece.

Don't listen to them, Apple. Just fire up the ol' Black & Decker! A few swipes back and forth, and the gratifying Fffffssshhhhhwahhhh of the steam, and it'll be good as new.

i can dye and get bags into great shape.. some of my purses are 20 years old and still look great.

the handles might be cracked on top, altho you can see the back of them one in one pic. besides you can take care of it by 'sanding' redye-ing and coating. i want a $400 bag for music and such, but you know..? you don't always get what you want.

i can use if for traveling w/ the kids if it looks too carpy. (wouldn't pay more than 20 for it btw).

it's the perfect dimensions and the straps are the perfect length.

tada! i won for $20.50. great price for a functional bag.

so... i will dye it myself. i think i will redye it green and then overdye a light brown on top.. (i wonder how i could experiment).

fiebing's has an excellent alchohol based dye.. it is so easy to apply and is an excellent product for maintaining shoes and purses (i've had dansko clogs for years that still look great).

dye

i don't really care for olive green and want to make it browner and the brown will not accidentally change the color of the piping.

i think if i repair the green and go from there i won't go wrong.. i have been looking for the perfect size music (work) bag. it's the most perfect one i found as far as length of handle, size, pockets.

(i am very particular... heh)

IIRC, the piping was a brown and the body of it was olive green. So you could do an all-over coloring of brown to tone down the olive and enhance the brown piping. I think that would be very handsome.

Good price, too!

Yep. You got a bag that was over $200 when it was new, probably $400 or more now. (I know that because I bought it for Janet) Given that it is Coach, I doubt the handles are cracked. You might be able to clean it up good with saddle soap and just touchup dye it.

i just tried to sell my old Coach bags at a garage sale. they're 20 yrs. old or so. one went for 12, and the rest went for 3. i don't care for the new Blingy Coach bags. Why i like the old ones is because they are not so trendy.

Post before and after pics, apple. I've never done anything like that. I'm curious.

I don't like the new Coach bags either. I eschew products with a designer logo all over them.

Indeed. I even make the car dealership take their sticker and license frame off any car I buy. If you want me to advertise for you, pay me.

Right on, Mik. I even took all the badges and emblems off of my motorcycle. If people don't know what it is, they can ask.

Yeah, no. I'm too straight for that kind of crazy thing. If I'm going to jazz up my vehicle, it will be a sound-system upgrade so I can crank my ABBA at 65 mph.

Sometimes I even roll the windows down or open the sun roof. But only if I'm wearing sunscreen.

It will look great.

When took lessons 3 years ago, I kept my music in the very same bag I used as a kid. It's a bright red naugahide (sp?) zip briefcase without handles. I keep my papers in it when I travel now. I get a kick out of it b/c inside is my name I wrote in about Grade 6.
