Then there's the issue of how well the academic definitions of those words fit with a given government that allegedly is that thing. These days it seems like those words are such ridiculous oversimplifications, and they're so emotionally loaded, that they do more harm than good to communication whenever they're used. |

Anyway, there is exactly one reason capitalism has taken such a PR hit, and it is the financial sector. It's a shame because everybody capable of thinking clearly about these issues knows that capitalism sometimes needs governmental controls. Discovering one more thing that needs to be controlled doesn't invalidate capitalism. It's a beautiful system. |

Asking the average American what they think about capitalism after all of the media rah-rah to date is instructive as to why these polls are generated in the first place. To put it in simple terms the media throws chum into the water and then polls the ratio of sharks to other fish and we are supposed to marvel at the results. |

"Any man who would make an X rated movie should be forced to take his daughter to see it". - John Wayne There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it". Henry II: I marvel at you after all these years. Still like a democratic drawbridge: going down for everybody. Eleanor: At my age there's not much traffic anymore. From The Lion in Winter. | |
