Personally, I'm pretty sure there would be slow walkin' and sad singin' in my neck of the woods...

OMG... You know, I probably would have reacted much the same as this man, though. Knowing I could have splattered their brains all over the place, and them being so absolutely oblivious and so thoroughly ignorant... Shooting them would have been just as bad as shooting someone's dog. (How's THAT for ironic?)

HOLY CARP!!!
I can't excuse them for being ignorant or oblivious. What they did was pre-meditated evil. With these guys I get the feeling that they probably wouldn't have too much difficulty killing people for kicks.

I'm with Jolly. If they had killed my dog, I'd be explaining to police that I felt my life was in imminent danger, which was why I had to blow their heads off.
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!
