Long day a work

Up at 5:30, at the shop by 6:50, at the site at just about 8:30am, left at 8:00pm, back at the shop at 9:00. At home, just walked in the door.

We spent the whole day sweeping the dirt, moss and seagull poo off of a roof big enough to hold a football game on it. (Could have been bigger, I don't know. I've never seen a football field.) 11 hours and we got half of it done. 96 bags of garbage at about 50+ pounds each.

Here's the glorious pile:

Got a few on the ground. These were test bags to see if they would explode on landing, forcing us to carry them via ladder:

Here's an arial view:

We ran out of fluids at about 4:00. By 8:00 we could barely muster enough saliva to rinse the grit from our teeth. Once we (somehow) got everything into our van we raided the grocery store for drinks, after of course we busted into White Spot to clean the dirt out of our ears/nostrils/teeth.

I love roofing! :D

Only half done. . . so that means another day like that today, huh??

There is something good about being productive at work, though, no matter how crappy the task. :D

Hard work... Do stay hydrated. Getting woozy and dizzy from dehydration is bad. On a rooftop, it can only end badly.

Do you see yourself doing that for the next 40 years?
The dogma lives loudly within me.

Wowza! Thank God you're not acrophobic..at least I hope not.

And to think I bitch about my boring data entry job. although, if it pays more, I'd gladly do some physical labor. One way to get my fat ass in shape. <_< I should be careful what I wish for. Hell, in WoW, I told friends that I'd love to tank/off-tank the Thaddius fight in Naxx. The tank toss the two mini-bosses do looks kinda fun. Well, last night I was in one group on one of them and the mage was in the other group (and on the other mini-boss). During the tank toss, she pulled aggro and got thrown over to our platform and the tank on that boss died. The one in my group survived. The mage landed and frost blocked herself, only bad thing was I was next in threat and the next tank toss had me getting thrown across the room. On Vent, I was like "WHEEEEEEEEEE!" :D I think we were still tired from the 25 man OS we did beforehand. We teamed up with another guild and left 1 drake up. :thumb:

Not a chance. It's good money, but I know people who have been doing this work for 20+ years, and their bodies have had it. Joint problems, stiff muscles, bad backs--it's not how I want to be at age 40. I love physical work. Pushing your body to the limits of endurance is a natural high. Plus, it's nice to see immediate results in a day's work.

I eventually want to move into a career in music. Maybe a pipe dream, but it's better than picturing myself doing this stuff for the rest of my life.
