A question about Iraq reporting

HOLY CARP!!!
Today, a car bomb in Baghdad killed nine people.

Yesterday, a string of six car bombs in Baghdad killed thirty-two people, one of the most violent days in Iraq this year. Al Qaeda is thought to be responsible.

During the Bush presidency, this would have been at the top of the headlines.

Now, this story is buried.

Why?
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

Actually, I think it is because it is so out of the ordinary these days. The did report it on GMA yesterday.

I noticed something today when a reporter was talking about the Turkish-Canadian that stole a Cessna from a flight school and flew it across the border to Missouri. I guess they almost shot the bozo down and apparently, that's what he was hoping for.

Anyway, the reporting said breathlessly, "How could this happen?". My first thought was, "Duh! He jumped a fence, got into the plane, started it up and flew it away. Seems pretty simple to me."

Then I thought how, during the Bush years, I would have immediately thought the reporting was implying some ineptitude on Bush and the gov't. Really, I think reporters just love being breathless and indignant.
