HOLY CARP!!!
Does anyone have a panini press?

I have a Williams-Sonoma gift card burning a hole in my pocket so I think I'll get a panini press. It will help with that recurring question -- what's for lunch?

I'm looking at this one:
Breville Ikon Panini Press

I have a bunch of panini recipes, and I can use it for grilling other things as well.

Don't have one but have always wanted one.

The one you linked looks very nice.

1 pan + 1 heavy thing = 1 panini press.
(Or if you want to get fancy I'm sure a George Foreman would work just as well.)

If you're actually going to go legit, the one you posted looks pretty decent.

I am so adjective that I verb nouns!
I told her that we have a Geo Foreman but NOOOOOOOO! The lid is hinged wrong! The panini press applies constant and even vertical pressure, where the Foreman lid is at an angle! Can't do paninis right on a Foreman!

So I guess we're getting a panini press.

The George Foreman Grill: Why would anyone want to grill him? He seems like a pretty nice fella...

I don't think anyone's talking about literally grilling George Foreman, so much as just asking him some hard questions.

She's absolutely right about that, IT.

Cook's Illustrated's new issue recommends a couple foil-wrapped bricks for pressed grilled chicken over more expensive tools. Sixty cents each. Like Aqua, I'd use a similar approach rather than getting a new appliance.

I don't get out much .. had to look up panini.
Does it taste like naan or is it crisper?
What makes it special?

I've used a George Foreman grill for them as well. They work just fine.

Of course, you're talking to someone who doesn't own an electric mixer or a blender, so I'm probably a bad judge of what is necessary in a kitchen.
