HOLY CARP!!!
I got back from meeting PJ about a half hour ago. He actually had chicken noodle soup while I drank coffee.

He's incredibly fascinating to talk to, though I hope he'll forgive me for 1) my ignorance about, oh, just about every topic we hit on and 2) my social ineptness, which causes me to babble and jump from topic to topic.

I learned tonnes in the hour or so we spent hanging out in Tim Horton's (Hey- it's Canada - it had to be done!) and am kicking myself that I didn't take advantage of the fact that he lives so close (about 2 hours away) sooner.

Thanks for the great conversation, PJ!

Oh - before anyone asks - there's no photographic evidence. Though I did see several former students sitting at a table near the window, and one of them actually got up to watch me give PJ a hug in the parking lot. I'm eagerly anticipating the rumours that will spread through town like wildfire over the next few days! :D

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

HOLY CARP!!!
Sounds like fun! And PJ was lucky to get a hug from you!
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

+1

We had beer, not coffee and chicken noodle soup when PJ and I met last year, but I can corroborate your assessment of his interesting and sterling character. I hope your students go crazy with the rumours.

Ditto. Dol, I waved at you from the other side of the river when I visited my childhood home a couple weeks ago. One of these days, I'll post some pics.

You guys are silly. I'm a mess when I meet new people.
Have you noticed that PJ hasn't been around since I met him? I'm pretty sure I scared him away!
