I get a call form Rogers last night saying I have an overdue balance of $490. This is weird, as I've never missed a payment on ANYTHING in my life. Then I remember I co-signed for my brother, making me responsible for any bills he decides not to pay. On top of that, he went ahead and put one of his friends under my name too, somehow forgetting to mention it to me first. So I call him while I'm leaving work to ask, "WTF!?" And he gives me attitude. He's ruined my chances of having a ding-free credit account. Like I said, I'm religious about making payments on time, and now my perfect record is broken. And no apologies from him. Instead he gives me lip, and I would so like to fatten it right now. I gave him one month to pay his bills, and then get himself and his friend off my account. I'm thinking maybe I should just loot his room and pawn off a bunch of his stuff until I've got enough to clear his record, just for lipping me off. I would win.

But I won't because that wouldn't be a moral victory would it? :veryangry:

(Moral victories suck. The "eye for an eye" victories are much more gratifying.)

Can you not speak to the company who the balance is owed too?

It shouldn't leave a trail on your credit history if you were a guarentee to someone who defaults a payment (i think thats right...), it just means you are liable to pay the outstanding balance.

Yeah, time to pawn his Wii.

And if I were you, I wouldn't even try very hard to find a good price. It's more fun to sell 25 of his things for $20 a pop than it is to get a fair price for each of them and only sell a few...

I don't think that would end up on your credit report. If it was a loan, then yes. If it's a utility, cable, or phone bill, you should be ok unless they cancel your service.

The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D

MP, Phlebas, I've talked to 3 people at Rogers and they all said the same thing: because they have my credit information, any missed payments under my name are immediately reported to the credit bureau.

Anyway, I called Rogers again and paid the balance out of my own pocket. That way no more late payments get reported. Unfortunately for bro, he now owes me. It's 100% personal. I've already given him one month to come up with the cash, and I won't go back on that, but I told him, very bluntly, that until he pays me, he's my b!tch. And come May and no money, everything he owns belongs to me.

I feel much better now.

I wonder why they would say that.

;)

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
Consider it a cheap lesson. Just make sure you learn it. Your brother will have credit when he can afford it.

Good. And Dol's advice is sound, too.

I think your approach with your brother is a good one, as well. :lol2: (For a while...) He definitely owes you the money, but money's never a good enough reason to permanently damage a relationship with your brother, so take care with how far you push things. ;)

Had it been my brother, I would have administered a few smacks upside the head to emphasize my displeasure.

Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

Oh this is far from damaging our bro-hood, but I'm sure as hell gonna get some fun outta this. :lol2: That's my plan.
