The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

HOLY CARP!!!
Why can't people with violent death wishes just blow their heads off in the privacy of their own homes and leave innocent people alone?
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

Better yet drive off a cliff and give plausible deniability to loved ones that want to believe you didn't really kill yourself.

But that gets to the point, depression is anger turned inward and suicide is the final reflection outward of that anger, a middle finger to everybody else.
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

Well the thing with suicides is, you're not considering the people you leave behind if you go through with it. You're focusing on ridding yourself of whatever sh!ttiness you're experiencing.

Shootings are different though, even if you eventually turn the gun on yourself.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

People who kill themselves are considering the people they leave behind. There are ways to do it that would allow some plausible deniability. It's a choice. The choice is often to make sure everybody knows that you hate life (and by extension them) enough to rid yourself of it.

Most of the people on my mom's side of the family have attempted suiced, a few have succeeded. The most recent was a couple years ago, my uncle shot himself in his garage. His mom was in her 80s at the time. I thought it was mean of him to do that before she died. My mom (his sister) was also pretty broken up. I know she would have gladly believed it was an accident if he had lifted a finger to allow her to do so, by driving off a cliff or something.

I agree with the opinion that if you want to kill yourself, by all means go right ahead. Don't be a selfish prick and take out 12 others with you. Not to be mean, but it's better to have one grieving family that a dozen.

And this is why restricting concealed firearms in schools is stupid. It's not going to stop assholes like this from blowing away a bunch of people. It only ensures that the innocent will be unable to protect themselves, or stop someone like this before he kills a whole bunch of people.

I am the grey one
I have had many friends end their lives. The first was in the fourth grade. There were many others after that. This is the serious part.

The unserious part is how do I have this effect on people.

There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it".

WHy on earth would he do that? Is he going to the SUNY there?
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

I think trying to over-analyse this type of extremely irrational behaviour is a mistake. The thing about people who do this is they're no longer functioning within an easy to understand frame of reference.

They're totally nuts, in other words.
