T3? Dunno, belongs to the University whatever it is. Protects our home machines too.
I'm at home now on a laptop and just pinged this download:

Slow, according to my internet lol.

I'm good thanks. :) Neil and I are in the middle of buying our first home so we're a bit stressed and busy at the moment but its all good fun. We've been messed about so much by estate agents and i'm getting absolutely sick of it all. The place we fell in love with and put an offer on a week ago, was a reposession and the estate agents only just passed the offer on to the vendor and the banks today (a week later - what the f**k have they been doing?!?) and apparently it looks like a higher bid was put in yesterday so they wont consider us. That was as high as we could go to so i'm a bit furious we've lost out. They said they would have accepted and took it off the market if they had got our offer last week. Grrrrr!!

Sorry... lol.. . just letting off steam.

Hope you are keeping well. :)

Can you sue your estate agent for negligence? It sounds like they used your bid to get someone else's up.

Apparently no. Their excuse is that because we are first time buyers, they had to check that we had our finances in place and that the mortgage in principle we had was qualified before they could put the offer forward.

How the hell does that take a week??

The free market works and you want to sue?

At least when you get your home you'll have a low interest rate on your mortgage. It's the one benefit of the credit crunch, our payments have halved.

The stock market has lost about 5x the value that house prices have, percentage-wise.

And house price value losses have received about 5x the media attention that stock market value losses have.

You want to bet??

The best mortgage we can get is fixed at 6.99% for 5 years. The banks need the security that they're going to be getting a return during the credit crunch. If we were able to get a variable tracker it would only be 2.5% but they wont offer those deals to new customers so the best we can get is this sodding 6.99% and we'll be stuck with it for 5 years.

A recession might be a good time for first time buyers to get on the market and buy cheap property - but it's the worst time to get raped by a bank when getting a mortgage.

The sickening thing is that the banks are borrowing at a base rate of 0.5%. They're lending at 7%!!!! They're not stupid.

Good grief. First time buyers got the best of everything a few years back. You'd think that with all the extra checks now being done to make sure people have the finance to pay, they'd want to everything possible to encourage people to buy.

I was wondering how long a solicitor's search take these days? We had a choice of the usual 3 weeks, or pay 80 quid and it would be done next day.

My solicitors fees are £600 and it takes 4-6 weeks. And that's a cheap solicitor.

Not a complaint, at all! That's what's so fun about this place. Conversations drift, just like in real life. I found it amusing, and hope you weren't put off by my comment.
