I Owe It All To John D'Oh
Quote:

in a speech to a fundraising dinner for the National Republican Senatorial Committee that raised over $2 million, Romney often struck a bipartisan tone in front a crowd that might have been expecting a heavy dose of rally-the-troops conservatism.

“I also think its important for us to nod to the president when he’s right,” Romney said, after chiding the president’s budget. “He will not always be wrong, and he’s done some things I agree with.”

Romney said he’s pleased with the president’s plans to “finish the job” in Iraq and Afghanistan – lines that drew cheers from the GOP audience — and he applauded the president for standing up to the auto industry.

“I hope he continues to be tough and shows some backbone because that industry is not going to make it unless we have real backbone and get those guys to fundamentally restructure all of their obligations,” said Romney, who could challenge Obama for the presidency in 2012.

Sounds sensible enough. I give Obama credit for not handing GM and Chrysler bags full of money to toss on the bonfire. It still remains to be seen whether he can stand up to the unions.

Yep. Like I said, "Wait and see." I'm pissed off about more money being given to AIG.

I'll tell you something else: If I were an airline executive with one of the airlines that went belly-up after 9/11, I'd be pretty pissed-off about the auto makers being bailed out.

HOLY CARP!!!
Romney is just another idiot.

This spending had better stop soon. It is really too late as it is but there they are! Spending and printing more and more each day.

Idiots.

I watched Romney on Larry King the other day (I think it was last week) and he looked good. I think right now, most Americans feel that, first and foremost, we need a President who will fix the economy. I think Romney can convince the country that he is that man. I am doubtful the situation will be the same when the campaign begins anew (if it ever ended) in 2011 or thereabouts, though.

Other than the flip-flops that people commented on last year, what's the general impression of the Massachusettsians (?) about him?

Do I count?

I believe he's an unprincipled opportunist. Admittedly, I believe that about almost everybody who's in politics, but he strikes me as more obvious than most. On the positive side, we all knew where we stood with Bill Clinton as well.

John, I agree with you and said so during the primaries. He had so many weaknesses and inconsistenices. Whenever anyone would bring up a topic he was weak on he would get this deer in the headlights panic look on his face. Not the guy I want with the football.
