I think England keeps inviting him over so that they can play the clips on late-night British television and have a great laugh.
This is something new. Nobody in England would have dreamed of laughing at any of your previous Presidents.

Michelle's pearls are larger in diameter. :tsktsk: Posted Image Ob should have held the queen up for this pic.
It works though, because Michelle is larger in diameter as well. :bluewink:

Indeed her grandpapa, George V and Kaiser Willy could have passed as twin brothers.
I discovered a couple months ago that one of my clients is Kaiser Wilhelm's granddaughter. This woman is quite frail, nearly deaf, speaking in Germglish and a little more than eccentric. The first time she mentioned it, I chalked it up to dementia. But, on a subsequent visit, her husband and she told me all sorts of details about his exile to Holland, the dispersal of the family naming various family members, etc. They invited me to come over some time to look at some of the family heirlooms including a set of jeweled goblets.

First lady Michelle Obama did not breach protocol by touching Queen Elizabeth II at a reception for world leaders attending the G-20 summit, Buckingham Palace told CNN Thursday.

"It was a mutual and spontaneous display of affection and appreciation between the Queen and Michelle Obama," the Royal Press Office said in a statement Thursday. "The London Summit reception at Buckingham Palace was an informal occasion," the statement also said.

No breach of protocol occurred, according to the Royal Press Office, because Buckingham Palace does not issue instructions about how to address the Queen.

If no breach of protocol occurred, then I am pleased, and I am far less embarrassed than I was. Glad to have the record set to rights.

More truth. Less spin.

Oh I got the sarcasm part -- that goes along with reading just about everything you write. It's just that since it turns out to be a non-story, in trying to attribute a pattern to those whose positions you object to based on this, you look silly doing it. But that's not my problem.

I got the reactions I expected and wanted, and most certainly it's not your problem. You have too many of your own to manage as it is.

The news reports suggest that the Brits love Michelle ... The British press is comparing her to Jackie O.

Oh yes? Try addressing her with "Hi 5 Queenie" :D

The Palace may not issue instructions, but Debrett's is standard.

Yep. I think that press release is to help the Obamas save face and tamp down a slightly silly press tizzy. It is very gracious on the part of the royals.

Perhaps a little of it will rub off.

Not at all and I have contributed to the thread. It's just that you've had it too easy as of late and I amicably wanted to remind you that not everyone here takes your wisdom as being wisdom. If you catch my meaning.

And I am supposed to adjust my sharings on this forum to your expectations? Get a grip Rennie. If you want to get into a pissing contest, go find some one else to jerk off with.

It's quite typical of you to try to re-frame the argument into something that you are capable of dismissing, but no one suggested that you adjust anything at all. Renauda simply made some observations about your behavior.

If you find his observations embarrassing, and wish to adjust your behavior, that's your own business. Personally, I'm fine with you behaving just as you do now. There are more opportunities for amusement that way.

Its okay Quirt, IT's just being his avuncular self again.

BTW, I had lunch with our former Chief of Protocol. I asked the question about touching the Queen. His answer was twofold. Officially it is because it was traditionally considered rude and treasonous for vassals and common subjects to *molest* the monarch in any manner. In reality however it is simply because it causes her security detail tremendous angst and irritates her personally.

... and irritates her personally.
Good enough reason not to touch anyone against their wishes.
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

True that. A much better reason than protocol, IMO.
