So I've been passed this doll and been told it's valuable. It's arms and legs are made up of a row of circular fabric discs threaded on elastic. (I should really post a pic, but I'm too cheap and it's too late.) I've been told it's a particular type of doll - does anyone know what I am talking about?

I don't know what this is, but I know what my 1yo son would turn this into in less than 30 minutes: A big fabric mess, ready for the dustbin!

It does look very "crafted" and quite new (the fabric looks synthetic), very easy to make and pretty rustic, what with the painted-on (or magic marker) face. Who told you it was valuable? Maybe in the eyes of the beholder. Cute though.

A similar doll can be bought here.

I had a similar doll when I was a kid. I love them. They're adorable.

Thanks guys - well some of you at least

I'm running an charity auction and people tend to pass me unidentified treasures and say 'here sell this it's valuable'. At least now I have something to call it in the program. (And no, I wasn't thinking of Herman!)

I appreciate the help.

I am sorry to hear it is going up for auction. At first I was glad it was valuable because I figured you'd put it away in a box high in the closet where it would be safe and it wouldn't scare the sh!t out of any kids.

Any clown/harlequin/jester doll should have a stake driven thru it's heart before it wreaks havoc on an unsupecting child.

Get the money first. Then let them drive a stake through its evil inanimate heart.
