Everyone here seems to get it. I bet the landscape company would too. A simple: $3.55 - Huh? You are fired! Would do the job. |

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy | |

Even that's more wordy than the version I dictated to Mrs. Dewey on the phone last night as I was crossing the 40th Street Bridge in the 'Burgh.... |

I love it, Dewey. Sure a simple reply would get the message through, but it would lack the delicious, slowly inserted and twisted skewer approach of the long letter. Won't make any difference in the long run, no, but it will make Dewey feel better about the whole affair. And that's what really counts here.

If you have to pay it, get some mileage out of it. That's just some control freak working in the billing department that has no clue what customer retention means because she/he will work all her/his life thinking that wages just happen. |

Dewey, please update us on whether the $3.55 cheque is cashed, and whether the company calls again, whether to apologize, of for any other reason. |

Is there something we should know about you? ![]() ![]() You nailed it, though. The longer the letter, the longer you feel the point. Dewey, I'd send them the $3.55 in small change. In a different currency. |
