Thank you for the kind words, but for many age doesn't always indicate the ability to think. I see many people driving cars every day who are clearly unable to think and age seems to make no difference. |

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy | |

"By nature, i prefer brevity." - John Calvin, Institutes of the Christian Religion, p. 685. I would have whole heartedly agreed with you Renauda. Lately (mostly due to some of Deweys comments), I think humankind might be genetically predisposed to some kind of "God delusion", that there may be at least some driving (lets say chemical for the atheists) force that requires us to believe in the supernatural as powerful as the chemicals that combine to urge us to procreate where we are in no threat of obvious impending extinction. I think the least that theists deserve, is a a bit more of a powerful motivation to believe in a deity than simply, cultural gullibility. This would be a guess on my part, i've just started to wonder........I think there is tenuous scientific evidence on the subject. It could just be a misinterpretation of a biological phenomenon, rather than a gene per se. |
| You're an atheist when considering Zeus, Apollo, Amon Ra, Mithras, Baal, Thor, Wotan, the Golden Calf and the Flying Spaghetti Monster.........I just go one God further. | |

I'll disagree there. religion is a universal human phenomenon. It has been there in every society in every time that man has been in existance. Societies completely removed by thens of thousands of years all have some sort of religious beliefs--not the same mind you, but they all have some sort of belief in creation system and a divine lawgiver beyond the mundane. There is a cultural element to it all, of course--but the universal application of the supernatural to all sorts of cultures in all sorts of times speaks to something other than just happenstance. |

Sometimes I get the feeling that after everybody dies, we're all going to say "See, I told you that you were wrong!" |
| The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it. | |

Either you do, or maybe the muslims do? Just make sure you don't die a virgin. If, when I die, I find that the Rastafarians were right all along, I'll no doubt go to hell bemoaning all of the lost opportunities. |

No, I didn't say "See, I told you that I was right" I said, "See, I told you that you were wrong". Big difference between the two. |
