I'm really sorry everyone, I just give up trying to talk or listen when 89th pipes up. He's so facile. I really should try harder to overcome my 89th thing, make an effort , or just ignore! I've bought the bloody conversation down now.......sorry, I can't be arsed with him......is it ok?

Wacki - as others have mentioned here, it's common courtesy to respect someone else's views, even if you disagree and even if you think they are ridiculous. It's the mature, civil thing to do.

well haha

TNCR could never be held up as an example of the civil and mature :lol2:

for some reason i don't think religion should be mocked. i don't know why..

it is totally acceptable here tho *((lowest common denominator and all))* to be mad at someone. :veryangry:
it behooves me to behold

Yes, totally. Then the question only really remains.....does mocking anything serve good purpose?

I think it can do, it can be an antidote to people taking themselves too seriously and to the unthinking acceptance of ideas.

If you feel an idea is ridiculous, feel free to mock away. Just try not to let it get personal, and don't be thin-skinned when your cherished beliefs are the target.

I'd also consider the possibility that not the idea but I am silly.

I think poking fun at ideas is fair game. There's a shade of difference between having a laugh, or just being purposely vicious, though.

At least try to make it entertaining. Otherwise I will have to mock your mockery.

Good mockery of religion:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5McSEU48Y8

The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

Everyone should be mocked.

But equally.

Blacks should be mocked. They are pretty much failures in American society--eating all that fried chicken and drinking that Colt 45. Their kids fail in school and can't pass the SATs. That's pretty funny. That should be mocked.

How about gays? They want all that sexual freedom and then they die like flies from AIDS a sexually transmitted virus. The IRONY! :D You have to admit that that gays should be mocked.

There's lots more--but it should be equal. If nothing is sacred--than NOTHING should be sacred.

It is either all or nothing--don't you agree?

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

I kind of agree with Tom. If we can't laugh at ourselves, we're screwed. But mocking is stereotyping and you just have to be careful that you don't live your stereotypes. There are a lot of sick wives out there who though they would never end up HIV-positive because they never dreamed their man was getting boned by other men on the "dl" and eschewing condoms because only gays get AIDS, right?

Mocking is cut from the same cloth. There's a fine line between funny and harmful.
