I have an old JVC 36" CRT TV. Strictly analog. Weighs a ton. None of my kids want it.

What to do with it?

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

HOLY CARP!!!
If it works, put it on craigslist, free or cheap. It will still work for anyone that has cable, at least, even after the digital conversion.

Use it, it's probably a nice machine.

My 10 year old monitor was damaged last month. It is a Viewsonic P-815. It was near the top of the line when I bought it for about $950.

So I wrote to Viewsonic and told them I wanted similar professional performance and quality in a current model.

Believe it or not they wrote back and said basically that there is no such thing. The current crop of digital flat screens can't touch it for quality, speed, color and brightness.

So, maybe you should just use your TV, although I'm not sure it works the same way for TV's.

The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

You'll probably have to pay someone to haul it to the dump. Sorry, pal, but that's likely the reality.

There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it".

Do you have a Freecycle program in your town, George?

Yeah! There is (just checked). How does that work?

You post up what you've got. If someone wants it, you set up a time when they can come around and pick it up. That's all there is to it. :thumb:

I still have (and use nightly) a JVC 27" CRT that I bought in 1988. So, George, just leave it on your doorstep and I'll come by and get it. My wife keeps telling me we need to upgrade to a larger screen.

Leave the porch light on (and a bottle of Balvenie) and it'll be gone in the morning.

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
Wow. That's a great TV. I remember when they first came out and were just freaking HUGE - the original Mitsubishis and all cost around $1400.

The problem is it, being a CRT, will probably outlast most of the flat screens being bought today. The TV in our bedroom is a cheap 19" I bought in 1984. The one in the exercise room is just abouot as old. Hell, I even have a 27" HD CRT in the basement rec room. Can't see buying a new TV when the ones I have work.
