I believe pencils never had much of any lead in them at all. Graphite.

Not quite sure what makes the effort to eliminate the use of lead idiotic?

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
Lead from ammo can be an environmental problem, but it takes a whole lot of shooting in a small area.

It was discovered a few years ago that our high school's football field used to be a shooting range and lead content was higher than allowed. So, to keep our kids from breathing in lead particles (no one had higher than normal levels that was tested), they dug up all the contaminated dirt and hauled it away. Somewhere, where no doubt it will be discovered in another hundred years that it was contaminated and it will be dug up again and moved somewhere else.

The EPA would not let us pursue a solution that made sense - like covering over that dirt with a half a foot or so of clean so the kids would never breathe it. I cannot imagine something as heavy as lead rising UP.

Yeah, this is your tax dollars at shirk.
