New Gun - Bersa ultra-compact .45acp

Just got home from the gun shop. Got a little Mad Money, so I picked up a Bersa Ultra-Compact .45 and a Fobus paddle holster for it.

Things that I like about it, compared to the Glock 30 .45acp:

Fatter grip for my big ol' paws, smoother recoil, design feels more rugged. Easier to field-strip than the Glock. (If you can believe it)
Slightly thinner footprint, so it works better for concealed carry.
Comes stock with two 7-round magazines.

Things I don't like about it, compared to the Glock:

The Bersa is single-stack, rather than double-stack, but cripes... If I can't hit what I'm firing at with 8 rounds, I don't have any business packin.

All in all, I'm very happy with this, and it will become my primary CCW.

Very nice, Frank. Do you have a shooting range near by to test drive it?

Kincaid: Steel frame. Nice weight and heft to it.

Very cool - I hope to get a permit when I'm a bit older and have my own place. Thanks for the review, Frank!

Good deal, 89th. Hopefully, by the time you get around to it, CC permits won't be completely outlawed by the current administration.

John, I always figured you for a "Bond" kind of guy. It is amazing what they can do with that invisible gun technology. You almost can't see it.

The reason I chose this one is three-fold:

1. It felt good in my hand. Nice heft and balance to it. (Especially compared to the Glock 30 .45 that I've got.

2. I like and prefer the .45 caliber. I'm used to it, since it was my sidearm for six years as an Army medic, and for sheer ballistic "RAWWWWRRRRRR" the .45 can't be beat.

3. It's a little thinner than the Glock, and therefore, easier to conceal.

I burned up about 50 rounds of Remington 230gr. ball ammo, this afternoon. Things I noticed about the Bersa and really liked: (In addition to the heft and balance of it.)

1. It has a very authoritative "BARK!" There's no mistaking the sound of it. Sweet!!

2. Recoil is a lot smoother than that of the Glock. Honestly, it almost didn't feel like a .45. It felt more like the Ruger .38 that I used to have. I love it!

3. I like the safety on it and the fact that it has a hammer, unlike the Glock. (Maybe that's just one of those "old-school" things, but my first handgun was the Colt M1911A1, after all.)

4. The accuracy. Even at 25 yards, I was still hammering the rounds into a 6" square.

I love this gun so much, I'm willing to part with my Glock 30 .45.

Yeah Frank, but eight rounds? When the zombie hordes come, they aren't going to be in little groups...

:thumb: It really is. Worth every penny... Honestly, I'd never even heard of Bersa, before. When I saw that it was an Argentinian-made weapon, I was a little leery after my experience with the Spanish-made Llama.

I am very pleasantly surprised and very happy. :)

For zombie type attack you really need Kluas' weapon of choice.

Yep. I've done a lot of browsing around on the Internet. There are few (if any) bad reviews of Bersa weapons of any caliber. :thumb:
