And push him off into the sea, like the Eskimoes are reputed to do.

The old boy plays hardball.

I think the whole thing is a little silly. If the economy has recovered substantially holding 41 will be a dubious proposition at best. If it has not they are far more likely to pick up a few seats anyway. They don't need this publicity.

If the story is right, you should never play hardball with a major league baseball pitcher.

Because Bunning has reportedly threatened to quit and to let the Democratic Senator replace him ... giving the Dems 60.

Now THAT's hardball.

Can't we even agree without fighting?

Edit: And, in case it isn't clear, it seems you edited your first post to add that second paragraph. I posted my follow-up while you were editing.

Unless I totally missed that second paragraph on first reading. I'm only on my second cup of coffee.

But they'd have 60 for the next two years, and that's not inconsequential.

No, we do agree. Playing hardball here is a really dumb idea, and indicative of the weakness of position. It would appear the incumbent GOP really does not know what they need to do. Infighting that plays badly in the press sure isn't it. They need to start playing at national leadership and ideas and let the strategy follow from that.
