Random question for Non-Americans; ...about day/month

I know over here we write it out: March 20, 2009, and also say "March 20th".

Since I know in some other countries it's written out: 20 March, 2009, how do you actually say the date? Do you say "March 20th"? Or do you say "20 March"?

Just curious.

There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it".

I speak it out as Month - Day (20th/1st/2nd/3rd/4th, etc.) - Year. Like "February 27th".
I write it out as day-month-year OR year-month-day if I have a choice, but we're so Americanized so it's often month-day-year.

I say it either way, 27th of February, or February 27th; not sure I do it more one way or the other. Most forms I fill out require mm/dd/yy, so I have to conform to that, but not without complaints. It just makes sense to me, and is more logical, to go with day/month/year!!!

blondie/Renauda - here, dates are always written as Month-Day-Year. Is Ontario that much more Americanized than Alberta?

En Espanol: Hoy es veinte y siete de Febrero. Literally translated from Spanish to English, it’s: Today is 27 of February.

The military prefers to post dates in this format: 27 Feb 09. We call it the military format. I’m in IT and we have to deal with dates in a lot of different formats: gregorian, julian, month day year, year month date, month spelled out, month abbreviated, year with the century, year without the century, etc. Date routines are used to reformat a date into every format imaginable.

Me QAANAAQ, you NOT.

I don't know Riley.
In hospital we always needed to abbreviate with consistency for charting, so the rules always said write front to back or back to front, with the year starting or ending an entry. So that became my habit. My cheques are also written year-month-day.

I say February 27th, usually. If I have to write it out numerically, I use yyyy/mm/dd if at all possible. I actually prefer to write February 27th, 2009.

That is of course the best answer, but I think few would do that.

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

Seems like all our official, government documents are in the yy/mm/dd format ( I just did our T4s and GST rebates, and made a note of it), my personal cheques use the same format, but all the software we use in the library* here is American, and we have to do mm/dd/yy. Our accounting software, which is supposedly a Canadian version, has the cheques dated the American way. So I really have to be careful. If I have the option, as on paper, I'll write it out so it's very clear.

* or should I say 'libary'

The "libary" thing is a pet peeve of my teaching partner and I. It is AMAZING how many principals say "libary" on the morning announcements. It makes me cringe!
