Lets make some predictions about how low the S&P 500 will get. It peaked around 1560 in 4Q07. The low point so far was 741 in November. Today its at 752. How low will it get before we get out of this? (ps - of course you don't know. just take a guess) |

675ish, I'd guess. I think we have another 10% of downside room, plus or minus. |

You know, if you're a bit liquid--this is all really quite fabulous. The worth and earning power of the S+P companies are still there--and now they are all being discounted for no REAL reason besides for lack of investor confidence. There are really good buys out there. |

I'm not a marketeer, so I don't "know" anything but but if it falls to 500, that means it's lost 2/3 of it's value--I can't imagine it going any lower than that without people (like me) saying--BUY and bring it back up. There are a lot of money making companies out there taking hits just like money losers. I guess, I don't think it would go as low as 500, but near there. |

Land is good, too. Obama is turning the US into one giant candy store. It's the poor bastards with the pension funds and the money market accounts and the pasture land and the farms that are going to get killed. The people with nothing are going to get a free ride and the rich people are going to buy up all the country's assets. |

Identifying narcissists isn't difficult. Just look for the person who is constantly fishing for compliments and admiration while breaking down over even the slightest bit of criticism. We have the freedom to choose our actions, but we do not get to choose our consequences.

When I get up of a morning I don't have to rush to my computer to see if I still own anything. I just make myself a cup of coffee, walk out on the back deck, and look at it. |

In my IRA, traded out of a short-term bond fund and into an energy fund in the last few days. If I had the courage of my convictions, I'd put most of my investable assets into a broad-based energy fund. I may do that yet. |

Yea, but you are on of the few people in America that know what they are doing--the rest of the poor bastards are getting killed. Larry's right about land--it's still there every morning when you look out the window. |

Of course--but they'll get richer. That's what happened in the 30's. A few guys ended up owning everything, literally everything--FDR start passing laws to make them loosen up--and being good Americans, they did to an extent--but the entire exercise wasn't good for the country. |

6 months ago a guy at work said 6500 - we all said he was nuts. Now I'm not so sure. Incidentally, he's revised his estimate to 3500. |

Can it go below zero? Technically, is that possible or is zero the limit? |

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

I am about as far away from an expert as possible, but a while ago I said the DJIA would get to 5,000...which used to be a laughable claim, but it's around 7,000 now, so we'll see.... Not sure about the S&P |

I'm thinking about allocating 70 percent of my retirement investments into liberty stamps.. I'll buy them by the thousands and keep them in jars in my pantry and then sell them in 25 years below fair market value, but for at profit for me. Don't tell anyone, though, because if this becomes a popular plan, the supply will drive down the price. I don't see how it can fail. |
