Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain ... we all know that he's a socialist and left of Karl Marx, even if John McCain agrees with him sometimes.

Mavericky! There's the John McCain that Democrats love - the one that agrees with them.

But seriously, it's a major drawdown, and now that things are stabilizing, I see no problem with what he's proposing. Pelosi, on the other hand, feels that 50K is too many. I think a "wait and see" attitude may be more wise.

Of course the fact that this is a faster drawdown than the Iraqis want isn't mentioned at HuffPo. That comment made into the last paragraph of the AP story.

HOLY CARP!!!
It's really just about the same plan that McCain would have put into play. I remeber I heard somewhere once that GWB said that when it came to foreign policy that it didn't matter who became President because when they got the kind of information that passed across his desk--there was often only one way to make a decision.

A little reported fact, to be sure.

No, Rumsfeld lost it before Gates and Petraeus won it.

Actually, Rumsfeld was a supporter of Patraeus' surge before Bush who was listening to the JCS.

There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it".
