HOLY CARP!!!

As John D'Oh said: "Liberal" has a quite different meaning in Europe. It's meaning is close to "Liberatarian". The European equivalent of the American "liberal" is something like "social-democratic". Hence it seems that you have shot yourself in the foot, Larry

I think that the reason they do this in America is that they're terrified of the word 'socialism' and therefore the term 'social democrat' is verboten. Obviously, no American will admit that he wets the bed in blind terror at the mention of a word, what with them all being cowboys, ranch-hands, roughtie-tuftie firemen and other things that look like Village People members, but it's the plain truth. As an English liberal, I wish they'd find another bloody word. |

They have. "Progressive". it seems that the word liberal has now become as toxic as socialist but it only makes liberals wet their beds in blind terror. |

Aren't Progressives those annoying hysterical women who insure cars? I prefer that English gecko myself - he's much more sophisticated. |

The gecko certainly is an improvement over those sodding cavemen. |
