Aren't we operating on your opinion about that? Just because you think that doesn't mean it's a consensus..

I suggest we take a poll..... :D
Of course it's my opinion. However, Mik echoed it, so I guess that makes it two opinions.

You are of course free to disregard it or disagree with it.

Do you disagree? Do you really think it's honorable to take cheap shots at people who are not present to defend themselves?

A yes or no answer will do.

Picking on people who aren't around to defend themselves ... is that honorable? Really?

Hit me squarely between the eyes, that doesn't matter to me. But leave people who aren't here to defend themselves alone. Taking repeated cheap shots against those who are unable to defend themselves wouldn't seem to be the self-image you choose to project.

Who's unable to be here, Quirt?

Did I attack whackoff? No. Anyone else is free to be here, if they disagree with me.

Besides, it's your characterization that I "picked on" someone. I quoted a comment made. I thought the comment was relevant to the discussion.

Now go get yourself a beer.

We're not talking about disagreements, we're talking about cheap shots.

Do you consider it honorable to whack a guy in the head when he's walking away from you and heading toward the door?

Even if you had a fight with him a couple of hours ago, is it honorable to sucker punch him when he's on his way out?

A yes or no answer will do.

A while back there was a thread that started up discussing Rick Zimmer, which was rightly stopped, since he's not here to defend himself. I think we should do the same thing regarding Daniel.

As I said, taking shots at people who are not here to defend themselves just make you seem petty and small.

That's one of the silly rules from elsewhere.

That rule has no effect here.

Get that rule out of here before somebody drops a house on it.
I didn't say it was a rule. I said it makes him look petty and small, and that it was unworthy.

No, you didn't say that it's a rule, but you know that it is.

As I said, it is one of the silly rules from elsewhere, and you are trying to bring it here.

Forget it.

It's a dumb idea.

Your opinion is wrong.

A while back there was a thread that started up discussing Rick Zimmer, which was rightly stopped, since he's not here to defend himself. I think we should do the same thing regarding Daniel.

If that happened I don't think it was "rightly stopped".

At least not if that is the only reason.

First of all there is no guaranty that anyone is here to defend anything.

So any action taken on the “unable to defend” basis is pure opinion.

To the best of my knowledge the only forumite that I know that is unable to defend themselves in a forum is Larry at WTF.

We have TGR and WI here. But as far as I know TGR could sock back in and WI's absence is only temporary and he may also have a sock here.

[edit] As far as Daniel is concerned, I decided long ago that he is a troubled man and that I would not add to his troubles. And I encouraged others then and still encourage others now to do the same.[/edit]

Apart from the inherent rudeness, I don't think slagging off a guy who isn't here to defend himself achieves anything. Politicians and B-list celebrities excepted, obviously.

My point is that there is no such thing.

Anyone in the world (with the above exceptions) is welcome to defend or not defend as they choose.

Wrong again. A person could make a lot of money asking you to guess what's going on, and then betting the other way.

So, what's your opinion on the stock market? Is now a good time to invest? If I just do the opposite of what you suggest, I should be Bill Gates-wealthy in no time.

What is going on is that Mr. Evans made a mistake.

Mr. Evans will do or say almost anything to distract others from the fact that he made a mistake.

Of course as we all know this only draws more attention to the mistake.

Let me once again invite you to join the human race, it's not so bad.
