I'm sorry I ever doubted you regarding Cindy's unfair treatment of you.

I don't think I'll ever go back to that forum again.

There is a potential problem when a board's 'owner' throws their proverbial weight around. That sort of act reinforces just how limited the participation can be, and the limits are not because there are rules. When the rules are what the owner says they are, and that owner's judgment is not subject to outside review, the result is that everyone walks on eggshells to some extent. This is a form of regulatory chill. When that owner behaves in a way that is capricious (sanctioning some who cross the owner's red line of today, but not others), it sends a powerful message that certain people and certain views may trump others. Civility is a great virtue. I have championed it on every forum and I really don't like threads here that descend into ad hominem bullsh!t. Nonetheless, I do not choose to participate in a group that is ruled in a way that leaves people wondering whether every word they write will be amended to fit another person's criteria of rightness. And the fact that the owner takes such an important role accentuates this.

Yeah, this is all a tempest in a very tiny teapot. No big deal. And as usual, I have overanalyzed things! :lol2:

I'm going second that.
For a long time, I've felt bad that I didn't stick up for Larry in that place. This is rationalizing, but I felt at the time that Larry and WTF was just a bad mix. At some point he would be banned there. That doesn't quite excuse not speaking up when he wasn't treated fairly.

I really like a lot of people there, and that's probably why I stuck around there. It's turned into that Twilight Zone episode with this town where a little brat kid has all the power to do whatever he wants, and the adults are scared to death of him.

I can't see going back there myself.

The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D

Larry and WTF are a bad mix, somewhat akin to a bull in a china shop.

Based on the way "the rules" are enforced, WTF deserves Daniel and all his drama.

So let me get this straight. you are trading in an African-American control freak at one forum to make nice with an ultra right-wing neocon homophobic misogynist redneck truck driver who keeps calling me Precious?

Well you're gonna have to fight me for him, go-friend!

Hey... that's not true.

Larry doesn't hate *ALL* wimmens. :D

I'd say that most of this thread is at least factual.

But nobody deserves all that.
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

At least your every word will appear as you wrote them and not as someone else would like them to be.

1. I'm not an "ultra right-wing neocon".
2. I'm not homophobic.
3. I'm not a misogynist
4. I'm most definitely not a red neck.
5. I don't drive trucks. I own them. I hire people like you to drive them for me.

Put that all together, and I'd say you don't know your ass from your hat, Precious.

Hmm.

Kluurs said something at the WTF today & now Plays & Phlebas say things here.

They make me think.

I believe some invest many, many hours lurking, posting on these forums. And others just don't. I have to be more respectful how individauls choose to spend their time. I can't be judgmental but it's real hard being non-judgemental.

I see myself (like now) getting too caught up in tiffs old & new (Larry-Cindy; Larry-Kathy-Jack), recent immaturities (Jack, Daniel), etc., etc. .... being a lurking voyeur .... feeling I should post & take sides.

Because of Plays & Phlebas, I'm re-questioning Cindy's banning of Larry, yet I'm asking myself if I should really care so much (no offense Larry, 'cause I know it's seriously personal for you).

Of what Kluurs wrote over there today .. People really do get worked up over a lot of stuff, and yes, people really do look for aggravation, things to get offended over. I confess .. even me. :( In both places.

Over time I've become cynical and apathetic. This isn't good.

I just don't want cyber-world to take over too much of my real life. I need to spend time adding RL into my own life.

FWIW, casting his banning aside, I'm real glad Wacky is posting at the WTF for now. He adds much needed life, naughtiness, suspense to the place. WTF really needs that. I'm glad his friend is posting too (here & there).

Larry, could you PM the WTF thread(s) where Cindy banned you? They're probably purged now. I won't comment on them; I just want to re-read what Cindy wrote, re-think things for myself. Thanks. :)

Misogynist.

Seems to me that's the second time that word has been used in here in as many days. Forget just who it was that mindlessly blubbered it yesterday or the day before.

Of course I have a temper.

No one here has ever seen it, though. They just think they have.
