If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
This is as good a summary as I have seen so far..
What's in it for me?

I don't see anything there for me but I really woudn't care if this actually did stimulate theeconomy. I remain skeptical.

There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it".

Final verdict: $13 a week it doesn't seem like much of an incentive to start spending again.

I dunno about that. I'm not sure if they intended you to buy specific things with the money you receive, but I know that if I had 13 bucks in my wallet, I wouldn't much think of putting it into a savings account. I'd surely spend it.

Regarding the rest, well... what they chose to talk about in this article is extremely limited. I'm not skeptical so much as I am genuinely interested. I figure we can start to make conclusions in a year or two at the earliest.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

I don't care how much more we get in a paycheck right now. We are holding tightly onto every dollar we can put away right now. New flat screen TVs are not on the horizon.

Well with 13 bucks a week, I'm not going to be getting one very soon either.

But I may get me an extra burrito or two.

Exactly. I think it will work a lot better than getting a lump sum of $500 or some such thing. Much more likely to get money flowing in the economy to piss it away without much thought.

Well crap, the "new car" credit won't work for me because it is just a credit for sales taxes and license fees - which we don't have in Oregon. I think licensing and fees is about $100 max - not much incentive.

Possibly I'd buy a hybrid if there is still a credit for that. Other than that, I don't see anything in the plan that will benefit me (but then again, we are not hurting economically - yet).

New Car Buyer Tax Perks

Probably Won't Clear the Lots

What the plan promises: Those who buy a new car between now and December 31 can deduct state and local sales and excise taxes. The purchase price limitation cap is $49,500.

Weren't we already allowed to deduct sales taxes on the Federal forms? Did that expire?
The dogma lives loudly within me.

You can't even get that if you take into account the S&H.

I still want one of those, though.

I should have that tattooed on my chest.
In that case, it should be:

Of the $790 Billion my government is spending, my cut will maybe pay for the Bactiricin I'll need to keep this tattoo clean while it heals.
