I agree. Go drive a Lucerne or a LaCrosse.
I agree that they are good looking autos, though I tend to prefer the sharper angles you find on Cadillacs. As for quality, I won't argue. I've always thought it was strange that a company like GM would have such varying degrees of quality across the board.

Still, I was just getting at Buick's demographic. After Oldsmobile's demise, I'm pretty sure most of their demographic shifted to Buick.

A little checking finds that the avg age for a Buick owner is about 66 but for Pontiac it is 47.

Anyway, the announcement I read also indicated that Pontiac will stay, but will only offer the convertible 2-seat Solstice, the wagon-like Vibe, the small G5 and the hotrod G8. I always liked the G6, so that's too bad. But, I guess it is due for a redesign so better just to ax it.

From Wikipedia:

General Motors, selling vehicles under the Buick, Chevrolet, Opel, Saab and Cadillac names, is the best-selling foreign automaker in China. Selling a combined 876,000 vehicles in 2006, GM overtook Volkswagen the year before, although that company still holds the claim on best selling brand.[20][21] Making up nearly 35% of those sales, China is Buick's largest market, selling more there than even the United States.[22] In 2007, General Motors sold over 330,000 Buicks in China, more than twice what they sold in the United States.[23]

Buick is still using the old 3800 v6...the basic design for that engine has been around since the early sixties...for good reason. Not a lot of ponies, but enough torque to get around and a bullet-proof motor.

No, it's not. Looks like a 2009 Honda Accord.

You gotta be kidding. It doesn't look a thing like an Accord to me.

Actually, from those 2 pictures I prefer the look of the Buick. Anyone know the price difference?

I can see where there are similarities in the look - but the Buick is far better looking. I'd bet the interior is a lot nicer too.

I think the LaCrosse is pretty competitive in price with the Accord. I agree from that angle they look a lot alike - but the front ends are quite a bit different (mostly because of the grille).

I compared the interiors of the LaCrosse, Lucerne, Cadillac STS and CTS to each other. I preferred the design of the Cadillacs.

I'd bet that the Buicks have a lesser grade of materials used in their interiors, compared to the Honda. I tried to post random thoughts about the Portland new car auto show a few weeks ago but the computer froze up and I lost 20 minutes of typing so I didn't try again. But one thing I was surprised about was how hard to the touch and unattractive to the eye was the material in so many vehicle interiors. I like to put my arm on the window sill in the summer, but my 1997 Honda Civic has a nice, soft vinyl padded cover. Almost every vehicle that wasn't in the "luxury" category had hard, sometimes even a bit rough, vinyl in that area. Others had a sort of rubberized feeling plastic that was not agreeable either.

Hard to tell without more photos, but I still like the Buick. Only thing that I don't like is that cup holder thing between the seats. Also need more detail on the front seats. I actually don't like leather, which both look to include. Give me a good quality cloth seat - cooler in the summer (the leather just doesn't breathe), and warmer to sit on in the winter. Leather is for small 2 seat British open cockpit sports cars, and Bentleys (where the leather is high quality).
