This is scary: No denials on Fairness Doctrine from Obama administration ..................It’s an easy question. Does this administration believe in free speech or government censorship? Their sudden inability to provide a clear answer, when they had no problem giving such assurances eight months ago, does not bode well for the answer. .............................. Democrats Consider Reviving "Fairness Doctrine" ..............During the presidential campaign, a spokesman said Barack Obama did not favor reinstating the Fairness Doctrine. But his White House spokesman has since left the door open. ........... Could Fairness Doctrine be used to Police Internet? ................While some Democrats have talked about reviving the policy, The American Spectator reported Monday that Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., is taking the call to a new level. The article said aides to the chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee met last week with Federal Communications Commission staff to discuss ways to not only enact those policies but give Waxman's panel greater oversight over the Internet. "It's all about diversity in media," the Spectator quoted a House energy committee staff member as saying. "Does one radio station or one station group control four of the five most powerful outlets in one community? ... Does one heavily trafficked Internet site present one side of an issue and not link to sites that present alternative views?" ................ |

If the Democrats know what's good for them they'll let the Fairness Doctrine rest in peace. |

There's a big difference between television stations in a pre-cable, pre-satellite world, and the internet. The fairness doctrine might have made sense when there were limited available outlets, using bandwidth sold by the federal government, but the internet is a completely different fact pattern. Waxman should let this one go. |

Mmmmmmm, pie!

The thing is, they have grown the number of people who can't think for themselves and will just blindly defend and support whatever is thrown out there because it is "their party" that right now I think the democrats could propose abandoning the Constitution altogether and nearly half the country would defend their proposal. And while I agree with Bernard, there is such little wisdom among the Left, such poor leadership skills, that I expect them to not only push it, but because they are in control, they will pass it. It will take years, and millions upon millions of dollars to fight it, but that's what will happen. The Left has become sick. |

It's true. We are watching them piss our country away with their mental illness. I am beginning to think that we will not survive long enough to make it to the next election in two years. |

If somehow the fairness doctrine was able to balance out all news outlets...this would be a HUGE victory for conservatives. But in practicality and and in principle, this thing is wrong. |
