Always a pleasure to watch people enjoy freedom of speach.

No rules, just right.
Is a speach a member of the citrus family, and are they really free?...
In this case it's the pits.

Smooth move there, Ex-lax Jack.

I AM sorry to stink the place up one last time.

I was going to take my leave quietly but the song fit the bit too well. It still makes me laugh!

I have come to understand a few things in the last few weeks here that have left me sad (and as you can see, silly), but ultimately feeling the need to go away for a bit at least.

First, I realized HOW MUCH the Larry-Kathy-Jack stuff was not just about the three of us but also taking up too much time and space that belongs to everyone. Lots of threads hijacked. I knew this all along of course, but I think I finally began to see how little patience the rest of you had for it. And truly, it wasn't fair to mess the place up so much all the time.

Second, and more subltle, Sue said something in the "Who Cares" thread that really struck a chord. Something along the lines of "Well Larry really seems to enjoy coming here...." and the flip side of that became obvious. I really didn't enjoy a lot of the things and people here any more because I was focused on dealing with Larry. Even though I think he enjoys being a bully and abusive at times, he is also clearly here a lot more than me, telling jokes, participating seriously in discussion threads. He has a lot more time to participate in other ways.

In retrospect I blame myself for not managing my presence here more thoughtfully. By allowing myself to react so sigularly to Larry's abuse of Kathy and expecting the community to somehow help me stop it if I could only call enough attention to it and SHOUT ABOUT IT LOUDLY ENOUGH, I stopped having fun and stopped allowing anyone to know who ELSE I was. I take full responsibility for that.

I don't know whether my proposal or Dewey's would have worked but neither was anything I was going to be able to do unilaterally.

Time for a break I guess.

I hear what you're saying. If you don't enjoy this, why bother? When I'm not having fun, I take a break.

Jack, I hope you come back soon. While the Jack-Kathyk-Larry hate-fest was a turn-off for me personally, I know you are a fascinating person and someone who I enjoy interacting with. As a parent and outdoor enthusiast we share many common ties. Maine is a treasure of rivers, mountains, and wildlife, much like Wyoming, I'll miss having you around.

Take care

I hope the "irony" isn't because you think Radu is someone's sock. He's been quite well known to a lot of us for many years.

He has apologized ? Where , when ?

Was this an apology ?

Did he edit or delete his original post ?

With all due respect to Jack, and with sadness for his departure, stating the obvious does not qualify as an apology.

People seem to find it much easier to apologize for general attitudes than for specific things they may have done. "I apologize for not being more thoughtful" is easier than "I apologize for starting this thread, that was dumb".

I think the difference is in admitting to a specific mistake vs making an apology. People much prefer not including the former when they are forced to do the latter.
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

I didn't see any apology either. The line Quirt quoted wasn't an apology, it was an excuse. Any remorse to be found in it wasn't for what he did, but for what it did to *him*.

That explains a lot. In your view, you have no need to tell us that you constantly behave badly because it states the obvious.

Let me try it your way:

Quirt: you are a horse's ass.

Yeah, I guess that qualifies as an apology. :lol2:

It would be, if you said that you blamed yourself for the fact that I am a horse's ass.

But, since you're incapable of blaming yourself for anything, that's an unrealistic hypothetical.

I am sorry I called you a horse's ass. I guess I couldn't help myself since I had my regular case of verbal diarrhea.

There.. is that better?
I fixed it for you. No need to thank me.
