HOLY CARP!!!
Last night, a local news story talked about county assessments for this year being available, so I went and looked.

Our assessment was down 4% from last year, which I think is a good thing compared to other parts of the country. Last year, our assessment went up 10%. :o

We're faring better than a lot of the country, but our market wasn't overpriced to start with.

and admiration while breaking down over even the slightest bit of criticism.

We have the freedom to choose our actions, but we do not get to choose our consequences.

I'm sure Fuld's sale didn't help the statistics.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

The value of my house seems to still be steadily increasing. Of course, like Improv, I am not in a market that was over-valued to begin with.

Mine is not really changing much at all, but then we didn't get overheated either. We have a strong equity position even with a drop, so I'm not really worried. I'm more concerned with the employment picture.

Yeah, but his wife buying the house for $100. She's got a hell of a HELOC now.

The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D

Rust Belt, baby. We already crashed in the 70s and have been recovering while the rest of the country partied hard.

Mine has gone down substantially, and I do mean substantially ... in an area where foreclosures are not rampant.

However, part of the loss (not all of it, though) has been giveback of gains.

Here so far I'm still in gain give-back territory. And I bought in 03.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

Parts of my farm is in 3 different counties. One of them seems to think the land increased in value, the other two seems to think it's worth the same as before...
