Cheers
Too small an issue to bother changing the constitution over, IMO.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

I don't think it's too small an issue.

Yes, good for Feingold.

I am so adjective that I verb nouns!
I lean toward Jon's position. While the notion of direct voting is good, isn't this is a matter of rare mid term appointments?

The governor will either suffer or capitalize on his choice, and the people will ratify or overturn the decision in the next cycle.

Also, I am not sure that the efforts to mobilize votes and state ratification needed to change the Constitution is really worthwhile. If ERA, pro life , gay rights, marriage, etc can't gain enough popular support to change the Constitution, I wouldn't bet on this one.

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
I side with Jon and IT. My concern here is that requiring special elections may mean the best person might not get picked because of the possibility of losing a seat to the other party. I think things are fine the way they are.

Neither chosen Senator was an irresponsible or undesirable pick, and special elections will not re-civilize politics or the media.
