Anybody else sick of Amy Winehouse and Brittney Spears? Anybody feel like they know more about their lives than they do about there own? Amy's on drugs. Amy's clean. Brittney's improving. Brittney goes nuts again. Brittney's estranged. Amy's ditching her boyfriend. Brittney's got a rash. Amy's getting a nipplectomy. ENOUGH!!! :veryangry: Does anybody actually READ this stuff!!? (I mean for enjoyment.) Are there people who flip immediately to the celebrity buzz wondering, "Ooh, what's Brittney up to today?" WHO DECIDES WE NEED TO KNOW WHO'S IN CHARGE OF BRITTNEY'S FINANCES!?!!? "Amy Winehouse hospitalized after [insert whatever you want, it's probably happened]." You know what I want yo read? "Amy Winehouse's body was discovered..." Truly, I have no emotional stock in what happens to these people. Get them off the tabloids! They are robbing the newspaper of valuable space. You could fit a crossword puzzle and a sudoku in there. Even a hardware store ad would be preferable!

:mad2: :veryangry: :mad2: :veryangry:

I beseech you.

TV off, stereo on, newspapers gathering dust, stereo turned louder and louder... When that's not good enough, fire up the bike and hit the road. The world just keeps right on spinning. Screw it...

I hear that. I don't even really read the paper. I do the sudoku puzzles, which happen to be on the page just opposite the news of the celebrity world and, well...try looking at a car crash out of just the corner of your eye.

In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

The New York Times has really gone downhill, hasn't it.

Mine neither. Janet and Lauren like People magazine. I cringe when I see it in the mail. I read NYT, WaPo, WSJ.. the Cincinnati Enquirer is a Gannett rag good only for lining birdcages.

If NAK will forgive me, this thread reminds of a cartoon of a guy reading the notorious British newspaper The News of the World (a/k/a the News of the Screws) every single week and complaining about the content, but buying it anyway.

:D

The Province it is, Sue. But more so, it's a local free paper that always makes it's way onto the bus.

Mr. D'Oh, yes, I am a glutton for punishment, but it's not without it's benefits. The increase in heart rate accounts for a large part of my daily cardiovascular exercise. I can skip jogging and burn just as many calories. :silly:

That picture of you flipping the bird would be more appropriate as social commentary here. :lol2:

You know, I've been lamenting the fact that I really don't know what's going on in the world right now. I kept up on current events when I had my classroom, reading the paper (online) each morning so I could find interesting news articles to use in my classroom. I haven't done that this school year, and I really am clueless as to what is going on (except for what I read here). Now, I'm thinking this is a good thing. I have no idea what Britney or Amy is up to (and yeah, she's a junkie, but I do love Amy's music!). Maybe burying my head in the sand isn't all bad.

That's how I feel, Dol. I read the local paper, maybe hit the high spots on national/international news, but I often go days or weeks without really bothering. Basically, I really couldn't give a crap. If they ever offered an antidote to my rotten attitude, I would probably refuse. ;)
