I'm turning in my pipe and slippers for a suit and briefcase. I'll probably start back the first week of February. Rather remarkably, I'll be returning to the same job I left in June.

In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

I thought maybe you were just going to be a daytrader kind of guy. You seem to have a knack for it.

Good! I've been saying you really should get back to work and save the economy. :D

(BTW, Citibank closed @ $3.11, shouldn't we, like, buy 10,000 shares or something? :P )

Are you happy about the decision, jon?

So what we can take from this is that you're either so irreplaceable that they had to get you back because no one else would do, or you were so redundant that being gone for 8 months didn't really impact them. Which is it?

;) :D

I quintoupled-down on BAC. I was tempted to go in deeper with Citi, but I resisted.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

Actually they replaced me, I even stayed on longer until my replacement could arrive (he was forced to take a gardening leave due to a non-compete clause with another investment bank bank holding company).

The interesting part is, due to a reorganization, a new role opened up that this guy was better suited for - so I'll go take my old job back from him. I'll eventually even get my corner office back with the view down Park, once he moves to another building.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

Not as much as the old days - Jan of 2008 I had been given a promotion which made it less necessary for me to travel. I'll probably go to London once every 4-5 weeks, with very occasional trips to Asia and Latin America. (in 06-07 I spent ~40% of my time in London)
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

Now, jon - you do realize that I never would have made the joke had I had ANY doubt about your mad-phat-investment skillz, right? You answered me just a tiny bit too seriously (cool story, though - it's a perfect situation!), and I'm a bit worried that you thought you actually NEEDED to defend yourself!

Dude, seriously.

There's a strong correlation between your leaving work and the EFI.

Hey best of luck. There's lots of people wanting to say those 5 workds right now.

The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D
