I purchased a Zoom H2 as a really cool toy for myself and for some upcoming choir work. It records remarkably well. Surprisingly, my voice actually sounds like me unlike the sound I get from cassette tapes and my antiquated boom box. Is anyone able to give me an easy overview how to get the recordings onto my computer and burned to a CD? I'm too busy (read, lazy) to sit and study the instruction book and there's no easy "how to" that jumps out at me. I'm generally technologically challenged. Thanks. |

OT had some good recordings that he made from an H2 - he can probably tell you how to get it onto a computer. Isn't it a USB link? |

1. Buy a USB multi-media card reader 2. Go to www.apple.com/iTunes ; download & install iTunes 3. Connect USB multo-media card reader to computer 4. Pull Memory card from Zoom H2; stick it in the card reader 5. Open iTunes software; create a new playlist; click on that playlist so you're viewing it 6. Drag music files from SD memory card to iTunes playlist 7. Tell iTunes to burn playlist to CD That's the general outline. There are other iTunes |

I connect the Zoom to my computer via USB, and it reads the card. You can download Audacity - http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ - and change the files form .wav to .mp3. |

Random FML: Today, I was fired by my boss in front of my coworkers. It would have been nice if I could have left the building before they started celebrating. FML The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D | |

H2 DOWNLOADING FOR SMARTIES You don't need to buy a card reader or even remove the SD memory card from your Zoom (Note: I am using an apple computer) On your computer's desktop create a new folder where you will put the files from the H2. Do not turn the H2 on, just connect it to computer with the USB cable that came with your H2. The computer will power the H2, saving the H2’s battery. ![]() This screen will appear. ![]() Just press the red button in the middle of the H2. This will get the two gizmos talking and an icon, which represents the H2, will appear on your computer’s screen. On my system that icon is called “H2SD”. ![]() To see what files are in your H2 click on that icon. You will see a list of folders. ![]() Open Folder 1. Those are the files you want. (I assume) Highlight the one(s) you want to download to your puter. Drag them to that folder you created on your desktop. ![]() Close/Exit the H2 window. Eject the H2 icon, drag it to the trash, exit, quit or whatthefarkever your puter calls it. ![]() ![]() Unplug the USB cable. You’re done. |

Hi Patty, Kenny did a great job of explaining downloading. The only suggestion I might add is that you rename your files when you download them, toehrwise you'll end up with dupliucate file names. Whenever you get the time, we can talk about sample rates, recording modes, etc. I've recorded hundreds of hours of music with mine so far. I think it's worth its weight in gold. |

OT, thank you. A good instructor is also worth his weight in gold. I agree with you about the H2. I'm really impressed with the quality of the recordings. Last night I converted the wav files to mp3 before I downloaded to the PC. Don't asked me why I did that, I guess I thought they would burn to CD better, but maybe it doesn't matter? I was able to burn four files (YEAH!) but realized while playing the CD I'd copy one file twice. It was way past my bedtime. I'm trying to make a CD for one of the ladies in my little country church whose 17-year old son was in a serious car accident in November. He lost both legs, seriously damaged both hands, has some brain damage and is currently in rehab. Joyce hasn't left his side. I don't think she's been home since Brenen was injured. My pastor asked me to make a cassette tape recording (a cappella) of the one praise songs that Joyce is clinging to right now. I thought I’d go one better and learn how to use my H2 and create a CD filled with songs of encouragement. Ax, thanks for the offer but I don’t think you really want to hear me sing. I'm not a professional, I just act as Praise and Worship leader for my little home-church congregation because I have the biggest mouth and project well. |

Patty, do you have a Mac or a PC? If you have a Mac, you have mixing software as part of your iLife package - GarageBand. If you have a PC, I believe you can download Audacity, which can be downloaded to Windows, from what I can tell. In any event, with an application like one of those, you can do some minor editing on your recordings and put them in different formats(I use GarageBand). It's a big help when it comes to cleaning up the lead-in and lead-out of the recordings. You can also add effects such as reverb, and tweak the balance, etc. Here is a sample from my doo wop group rehearsal the day before yesterday: Beside You It was recorded in 4-channel .wav mode, at the 48kHz, 24-bit sampling rate. I converted it to .mp3 in GarageBand after the fact to keep the file size down for uploading. |

OT, nice sound! Took me back to my Shanana days. I have a Toshiba PC laptop that's relatively new, had it less than six months. I'll look into Audacity tomorrow night. Tonight is a school night. I sure do appreciate everybody's help. Brenda, that's very sweet of you to say but it's the caregivers who deserve the credit. I'm just offering a little bit of love through song. |

Thanks, Improv, but I must confess I wasn't lead on that one - that was our first tenor. I don't have a decent recording of me singing lead on something currently. |
