1st Day: You stay classy, Mr. President

HOLY CARP!!!
As I recall, FDR savaged Hoover pretty badly. But then, FDR had the heart of an assassin.
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

I don't disagree that Bush is unpopular. Can anyone remember another President slamming his predecessor that way (Jimmy Carter doesn't count)?
Why doesn't Jimmy Carter count?

I doubt Reagan ever said much adverse about Carter after the election. He didn't have to since the people made the point for him.

I don't think he ever publicly criticized Carter for the hostage situation since he understood the importance of a unified front against a common enemy-- unlike ... well, you can figure out the rest of that one.
The dogma lives loudly within me.

President Barack Obama will partner with the people of the Gulf Coast to rebuild now, stronger than ever.

Has any other President been so openly critical of his predecessor?

I don't know.

I hope someone fills this guy in that the Gulf Coast will get many more hurricanes.

Rebuilding it is foolish.

Build a monument and abandon the place.

There is no reason for the taxpayers to foot the bill for the mess.
Or, make sure that everyone understands that, if they build and it gets knocked down again, they're on their own.

But I agree.
It would be unwise to underestimate what large groups of ill-informed people acting together can achieve. -- John D'Oh, January 14, 2010.

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
Yes. I t makes no sense at all to rebuild. You can point to Holland s a successful , but Holland doesn't get hurricanes.

Why doesn't Jimmy Carter count?

Because he's been openly critical of subsequent presidents. I don't recall him being critical of his predecessors. At least not saying that they broke promises.

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.
