HOLY CARP!!!
Apparently, we white males have a lot to answer for.

It's a good thing we're too rich and powerful to care.
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

Slide over, white man. It looks like white women are in the same boat, too.

I find it hard to believe that anything in this 140 million dollar spectacle was unscripted or unapproved prior to the day. That, to me, presupposes the prayer has a good-housekeeping seal of approval.

Actually, it makes me think of a phrase we were told in Mexico about when you should flush the toilet and when you should hold off, but I won't repeat it here in a thread about such a classy occasion. :silly:
Ok then, allow me. :hat: That's what I thought of too (we have water shortages here, and it's a well known phrase) When it's brown flush it down, when it's yellow let it mellow.

I was thinking along the same line. Either "The Team" approved it, or they screwed up and missed it. They're supposed to be wonderful, so it must be the first one.

Now let's examine the political and ideological bigotry.

When Bush was sworn in, the left went beserk. "He'll never be my president!" "If that chimp gets elected I'm moving to Canada!" and on and on. 8 years of unrelenting attack against the man, not one good word for him, and on his way out he is *still* being attacked by the slobbering fools on the left.

BUT - now we here "He's our president, even if you disagree with him you must support him"... and on and on.

The left is a bunch of slobbering morons.

Sorry.

I think Deb is right, every word had to be reviewed for content and timing.

I had FOX on, and they didn't comment on it.

The Rev. Dr. Joseph E. Lowery during the Benediction.

What a moron!

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

Don't know about you all, but I felt awash with white man's guilt after that statement.

I'm going to hug a person of color and tell them I'm sorry right now!

I hold no person or political in such high esteem to declare them "my". Yes I have used the term "My representative" and I admit that but I am no longer going to even make that misguided statement.

I have never thought of the president as "my president". He is THE president. He is supposed to be accountable to the people but they never seem to be. He is not supposed to be above the law yet they always seem to be.

All this gushing and weak knees and emotion about all of this is very creepy to me.

interesting. So it's something he's said before, so certainly it wouldn't have been a surprise to anyone involved.

"sorry" doesn't necessarily mean "I'm sorry"...it's quite legitimately used as an assessment of a state of affairs....much as one might say shake their head and comment, "pitiful"

My wife stayed home today to watch the inaguration. When I mentioned the closing prayer she said it was "great". I asked about the phrase and she saw no problem with it. Apparently, I will have to view it for myself and see how it came across before I can judge it.

Kind of like that sort of sorry?
