No, obviously not all. But you have to admit - Jordan Kitt's sales training consists of saying "It's a Steinway"....
No. I disagree with that. But I was trained years ago back in the Dave Huegel days. I thought he was an exceptionally good sales trainer. Especially since I had just come from Apple.

I will admit that they taught "top down selling" but I see nothing wrong with that. And back in the 80's I sold many a Sohmer vertical off the Steinway and then later many a Kawai off the Steinway.

There's nothing wrong with coming out with your best product and going from there.

Were the manufacturers perhaps misleading in some of their "facts". Yes, I think so. I think the entire industry is tainted with misrepresentations whether intended or not.

But that's why I got out of it. After a while, in the piano industry if you have any integrity you start questioning everyone and everything associated with piano manufacturing.

They all "spin".

So, all you can do is play the piano, listen to it, feel it and trust your gut instinct. IMO. Because 80 % of the sales people you're talking to are lying to you whether intended or not.

Mmmmmmm, pie!
You should always sell down. But you shouldn't do it by saying an Essex is a Steinway and a Pearl River is a piece of crap.... lol

PianoMadam was the resident expert at repeating every bromide in the promo sheet as though it was a self-evident fact. Her discussions of the Steinway Artist program were a gold mine of self-important misinformation. Her touting of the Boston was enough to make Don Mannino cringe. Heck, even Del intervened to tell her off about construction details that implied no particular superiority.

I really loved one of her threads in which doctors preferences were invoked to prove Steinway superiority. Here that, George!

That's been done before.

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

and, if, it's who I think it is, then, yes.... she could be considered the worst of the worst when it comes to sales ethics.

but, not all JK employees, should be considered tainted with her poison.

Just my humble opinion.
It's not who you think it is.

It's worse.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.
