Makes me all the more elated that TNCR isn't used by anyone for capital gains -- or, at least, if it is, I am not aware of it.

Ha, that's great!

It's a pity, though, that the dealer is not know by name. There was some bit of information about a former affiliation with JordanKitts guy. Shouldn't it be possible for a business insider to deduce who this is?

(of course it could also be a quite subtle strategy to deliberately damage Steinway)

This thread also reminded me why I have stopped reading PW years ago.

The piano forums taught me that the best salespeople try very hard to seem fair, honest, unbiased, friendly, and selfless. That the only reason they're there is to ensure that you're happy, and that that is their only true compensation. Then they'll fit as much bias and salesmanship within that framework as they can cram in there, while leveraging your positive feelings towards them to get a high-profit sale.

(Pianomadame is not among the best salespeople.)
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

While many *are* fair and honest, the piano business over the years developed a type of salesman that had a keen ability to make you *think* he was being fair and honest, while lying through his teeth. Behind the scenes, many of the "fair and honest" ones were among the slimiest in the business. Those who were involved in it who saw through it weren't welcome, those engaged in it ruled the day. The whole place turned into a "see who can kiss Frank's ass and get away with manipulating the place for our benefit" mess of misinformation and outright con games. This lady got caught because she wasn't savvy enough to pull it off. She slipped up. But the place still reeks with dozens just like her, and there's no one there (well, not many) able to see it. Those who can, left.

Yay, Frank - it's not what they say, but how they say it....

On a totally unrelated note, I have inherited a large number of pianos from an aged relative, and I've been asked to sell them here - they're an incredible bargain. If anybody's interested, please PM me.

Yup.

She could probably claim to be the single most important reason why the whole Steinway family of pianos garners raised eyebrows and snickering, often from people who actually like the pianos.

So it's possible that someone may be coming here making tons of posts to encourage us to buy tons of interweb bandwidth.

Hmmm, I bet if I thought about it I could point at someone.

She came back - for an apology. The apology was widely appreciated at first, and then later ripped apart.

I happen to be a big fan of Steinway, tho I competed with them for years. From the first moment that Klutz came on the forum I wished I was in a position to fire her or at least silence her/him. A worse spokesperson for Steinway would be hard to find..

I have watched pianomadame's post for a long time and suspect she, he?, actually must sell a line that competes with Steinway.

(edit) That would also splain the anonymity.

and, if, it's who I think it is, then, yes.... she could be considered the worst of the worst when it comes to sales ethics.

but, not all JK employees, should be considered tainted with her poison.

Just my humble opinion.

No, obviously not all. But you have to admit - Jordan Kitt's sales training consists of saying "It's a Steinway"....
