This morning I had summer in a bowl for breakfast:
granola toppped with vanilla yogurt, HOMEGROWN STRAWBERRIES, and a sprinkling of brown sugar.

Oh ...... my ........ goodness ................... was it ever good.

Tell us what you have enjoyed lately that was really just a simple thing, but made your day, or at least part of your day.

Love those simple pleasures.

HOLY CARP!!!
Had a giant red grapefruit for breakfast (I think it was a Texas ruby, but it might have been Indian river). So sweet and juicy. Really woke me up and put me in a good mood.
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

RR, I think you are always in a good mood, but I'm glad you enjoyed your grapefruit.

That note at the bottom of the original post, ................................. you came to mind as I wrote that.

Today's simple pleasure was sunshine on fresh powdery white snow. Too much of the winter weather here is cloudy. Blue sky in the winter is always a pleasure for me. It was one of the things I liked most (along with hockey, brandy, and snowmobiles) about the winter I spent in northern Minnesota.

How do you get homegrown strawberries in January?

one of the angels
i adore grapefruit .. truly my favorite fruit.

I bought a couple of pillows on super clearance (3$ a piece). they are huge foam/feather combos. We keep our house frigid, and climbing into my tempurpedic bed with flannel sheets, a warm, huge husband and that pillow is about as close to heaven one can get, especially if the husband is already asleep.
it behooves me to behold

You're right, Al. Minnesoooota has many beautiful sunny days in the winter. Those can also be some of the coldest days, but they are lovely and warm the heart.

Those homegrown berries came from our freezer. Just a few seconds in the microwave and wowzers! A co-worker of hubby's gave him a most excellent thank-you gift a few weeks ago. Hubby had helped him with a work problem. Hubby is one of those people EVERYBODY wants to have help them. He's very talented.

The gift was two freezer bags of homegrown sweetcorn cut fresh from the cob. We had one bag with a meal, and the other bag of corn was made into a salmon and corn chowder. Oh, that was phenomenal.

The other part of the gift was two freezer bags of strawberries, all cut, cleaned and individually frozen. I took out just enough for my breakfast, microwaved them for just a few seconds and poured them on top of the yogurt and granola. Brown sugar is much better than white sugar on them.

Hubby plans to make a homemade cheesecake this weekend to have with more of the berries.

Strawberries in January are such a treat. And these are soooooo good, better than from the store. They are just beautiful and perfect looking, very tasty, too.

What nice gifts. I feel like I should send a thank-you note for the thank-you gift! :lol2:

My boss is out of the office for two solid weeks. He's simple, and it's a pleasure when he's gone.
What do you mean "we", have you got a mouse in your pocket?

After hubby and daughter left this morning, I went back to sleep for an hour with the kitties.

It was positively decadent! Now I feel rested and really great. I almost feel guilty.

Almost.
