HOLY CARP!!!
I just got my books tonight. I purchased "The Bread Baker's Apprentice" and "Crust and Crumb", both by Peter Reinhart. I've read the 100 page intro to Bread Baker's, and I have to say I'm REALLY impressed. This guy is a true bread geek, but he's not a snob. His writing is enjoyable. The recipes look wonderful, though obviously I've yet to try them. I may start with the ciabatta, simply because I have a basis for comparison and that would be interesting. He also has a recipe for Portuguese Sweet Bread, which my childhood best friend's mother made regularly. I'm excited to try it! I know our bread folks are into the 5 Minutes a Day book (and I have that as well), but if you're at all interested in another bread book (that, yes, requires kneading and time), I'd recommend this one so far. I'll update when I actually bake something from it!

I'll wait for the bread to be baked. Reading is one thing; eating is another. Don't delay too long, Dol. I do like a good loaf straight from the oven with a bit of butter.

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
I made another batch tonight. 5 minutes to make the dough, 5 minutes to make a loaf and get it in teh oven. Yum. Had it with homemade Chicken Noodle Soup.

Hey! I ordered my bread making book a day before you and I still haven't got it! :veryangry: :P

I'd love to hear how things go with the recipes, and I appreciate the book recommendation. I may just pick that up as well.
